  • Behaviour regulation and it's adjustment to collective good and welfare in necessary component of a civilised society.. philosopher like Hobbes, Rousseau and Chankya very well established that what distinguish a society from savage is restrain on ' thinking, acting and Behavior'. So law and ethics are two foundational stone of any civilised society.. we can elaborate their role in behavior regulation as following..
Law as an instrument of behaviour control..
Ancient religion like Judaism and Hinduism emphasized role of law in founding a society.. Ten commandments of Moses and His utterance ' those who shant live by Law shall perish by law' emphasize role of Law as first stone in civilised society .. Hinduism Concept of Riti also imply that Law has origin in nature..
In simple term law induce its subject in a desired behavior through punishment if one fall errant ... Law helps civilised society in following way..
    It helps uniformity of behaviour.
It establish common code of conduct
It provides checklist of social dos and don't
It minimise disparity in status and opportunity
    It brings fraternity and brotherhood
It sensitise it's subject towards violence.. for example indian constitution through FR, DPSP and other provisiins make certain social and cultural action taboo and bring civilised behavior
    Ethics role in behavior regulation..
Ethics are general principle of right and wrong that guide and control ones thinking and action.. Ethics that is also Niti or Dharma in our civilisation provide several tool for behavior regulation
Establish trust and reliance in society
Individual give consideration to the whole by being ethical
Ethics bring certitude in values and beliefs
Ethics establish social integration through common code of expectation and behavior
Tulsudas " pran jaye pr vachan Na jaye aise raghukul riti' I'd illustration of Ethics in engendering civilisation and civilised behavior
Ethics and Law has enmeshed relation. They are interdependent .. as st Augustine say ' A bad law is no Law ' hence an unethical law don't have much of life line for example death punishment that embody Gandhiji s an eye for eye make whole world blind...
