@SDQ Mission Kakatiya is an initiative of the Govt. of Telangana to revive tank irrigation in the state. The name comes from the fact that the Kakatiya empire was known to have first encouraged tank irrigation on a large scale. The govt. plans on reviving more than 40,000 tanks and lakes
@Hercules I think what is mentioned in the govt. website should suffice. However, for the post-independence history I suggest you look for better sources. For home state, I suggest we tackle each of the topics I mentioned earlier, Geography, Agriculture etc. one at a time
What is your opinion on the shifting of the Secretariat of Telangana?
Telangana website only shows the following as new initiatives 1. Mission Kakatiya 2. Mana Ooru Mana Pranaalika 3. Water grid 4. Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak What has happened to Bangaru Thalli, Pavala Vaddi, Jalayagnam etc.? @Rahul_upsc1@Vamshi_krish Please change the title as requested above @Aks@Thor
Forget that. Mission Kakatiya is a very important programme and there may some question on it..

Heights of foolhardiness by the Govt. Nothing logical and not at all required. CM finds some Vaastu Doshas, ridiculous.

True. There is a great cost involved - Rs. 150 cr and not to forget the inconvenience caused to patients of TB/HIV who will henceforth have to go to Vikarabad. But we can't call it as a foolish step in the interview. We need to mention the other reason he has given - that the departments were scattered in the city and he wanted a centralized location of all departments. At the same time acknowledge that the reason he has given along with this - that of Vaastu - goes against the spirit of the constitution and that there's a PIL against this in the HC
@somestuff good points,.. added to that... Mission kakatiya = Mana Ooru, Mana cheruvu... to revive minor irrigation in state with community participation. Tank construction dates back to pre-satavahana During kakatiya rule, tank construction carried out in large scale with technical expertise Later continued by Qutubshahis and Asafjahis..
Importance: Telangana state, being a drought prone area receives less avg annual rainfall. 84% of net sown area is dependent on well irrigation, leading to ground water depletion, increased power consumption. Therefore Tank irrigation is ideal for state = storing and using of rain water.
Advantages: Agri growth, Rural employment generation, poverty reduction, commercialization of agri, tackle drought and migration. augment ground water levels, save power(by omitting well irrigation) .............
Also Telangana govt started started Mana ooru, mana pranalika (Our village, our plan) on lines of decentralised planning wherein inputs were received from village level. Aims to strengthen grass root democracy and empower gramsabha. Data will be collected from each gram panchayat in Telangana, their needs would be assessed and included in the budgetary allocations.
YES TRUE..GIVEN THE conditions of ground water levels, reduction in water table levels...tank irrigation offers a better alternative .Also desilting of lakes and their rejuvenation shall usher a new chapter in irrigation sector which would ultimately benefit drought prone agri districts. Mana ooru mana pranalika is a noble step towards ushering true grass root level democracy. As one of the premise of formation of new states is efficient administration decentralisation is an effective step towards this end
Let us move onto some other historical topic.. QUTUBSHAHI tombs restoration was in news..so share info on qutub shahi rule, monuments, speciality of their architecture
One important issue which will become more complicated is the water sharing dispute between the two states. We have already seen the dispute in sharing the Nagarjuna Sagar water. As water availability in Krishna is reducing fast due to the projects constructed in upper riparian states, this issue prone to become more complicated. Moreover, with Polavaram AP will try to divert Godavari water to Krishna basin, which will be contented by the Telangana govt.
