  • @Thor But don't we also have other projects that are part of Jalayagnam and not located on Krishna, like Pranahita-Chevella, Yellampalli Barrage?
    This is what Union Water Resousrce Ministry has to say, http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/telangana/misgivings-delay-nod-to-pranahitachevella-project/article6680069.ece

    Yellampalli is contingent on Pranahita AFAIK. If this stops, that has no water right? Am I missing something.
  • Hello friends....
    Thank you for reviving this thread.Let us frame mock questions on different topics and try to answer them.Im from telangana
  • I have anthropology as optional it would be great if i could find people with the same optional here and try to frame questions based on it
  • edited March 2015
    @Thor Yes, that's true.
    I just wanted to clarify that Jalayagnam is not solely dependent on Krishna waters. The original question referred to the spate of all these projects under the scheme.

    Also, is there a comprehensive list of schemes in operation in the state?

    @SDQ I have posted some topics, maybe you can begin with questions from these? Regarding Anthropology, I think it's best if we stick to Telangana-AP related topics here. Maybe you can look at the Anthropology thread?

    Kakatiyas (950 CE – 1323 CE)

    --initially feuds of chalukyas.
    --declared independence in 950CE and set up kingdom with warangal as capital(previously hanumakonda)
    --strong rule; united all telugu areas.
    --undertook various irrigation and public works(Esp tank irrigation);
    --came to end in 1323 CE when Delhi sultanate seized warangal which was under prataprudra(last ruler of kakatiya) defeated by malik kafur.

    Powerful kings:Rudra Deva, Ganapathi Deva, Rudrama Devi ( most prominent + women ruler; anushka playing her role in an upcoming film :p ) , Prataparudra.

    Architecture:
    Thousand pillar temple - by rudra deva in 1163CE
    Ramappa Temple( known for sculptures etc , Nandi statue ) - by Recherla Rudraiah 1213CE
    Kakatiya Kala Thoranam - I guess this was there in telagana emblem
    Warangal fort temple - by Ganapati
    Golconda fort construction started under kakatiyas.

    Also kohinoor diamond first belonged to kakatiyas.

    @SDQ
  • good dharma...can u please elaborate achievements of rudrama devi( not anushka ofcourse :P )...
  • Hahaha

    Anyways;
    Rudrama Devi ruled from 1259–1289
    Succeeded her father when she was only 14 years.
    Crowned in 1269 after the death of her father.
    Nobles rallied against her rule however, rudramadevi tackled them with public support.
    Known as great warrior and good emperor.
    Completed the contruction of Warangal Fort and even captured many other forts.
    The administrative system of Rani Rudrama was efficient and the general people led a happy life. (applies for all benign rulers)
