Kakatiyas (950 CE – 1323 CE)
--initially feuds of chalukyas. --declared independence in 950CE and set up kingdom with warangal as capital(previously hanumakonda) --strong rule; united all telugu areas. --undertook various irrigation and public works(Esp tank irrigation); --came to end in 1323 CE when Delhi sultanate seized warangal which was under prataprudra(last ruler of kakatiya) defeated by malik kafur.
Powerful kings:Rudra Deva, Ganapathi Deva, Rudrama Devi ( most prominent + women ruler; anushka playing her role in an upcoming film ) , Prataparudra.
Architecture: Thousand pillar temple - by rudra deva in 1163CE Ramappa Temple( known for sculptures etc , Nandi statue ) - by Recherla Rudraiah 1213CE Kakatiya Kala Thoranam - I guess this was there in telagana emblem Warangal fort temple - by Ganapati Golconda fort construction started under kakatiyas.
Also kohinoor diamond first belonged to kakatiyas.
Anyways; Rudrama Devi ruled from 1259–1289 Succeeded her father when she was only 14 years. Crowned in 1269 after the death of her father. Nobles rallied against her rule however, rudramadevi tackled them with public support. Known as great warrior and good emperor. Completed the contruction of Warangal Fort and even captured many other forts. The administrative system of Rani Rudrama was efficient and the general people led a happy life.
