Pls consider that some good scorers of paper one this year are really struggling in paper two.. that should also have some downward pull in cutoff..
Mr K, Even I heard CSAT didn't go well in the hinterland, but if you have any ground info, kindly ascertain this fact. Maybe some real examples of your friends from Hindi belt.
Friend! it's nt about hinterland or neon sign-board lit metropolis. I am saying so based on the following observations
1- Fist time people have made a special thread in this community fearing to end up somewhere on borderline in Ppaper2 . 2- Quant section's level certainly increased, even 3/4 questions are touching CAT level Quant. 3- People in my surrounding are scoring significantly low(15-25 marks) this year in P2 as compared to their last year attempts 4-Because of availability of quality material of CA and last year overemphasized CA section..people were damn focused on paper one only..majority of the people perhaps done aptitude paper directly in the exam-hall after many months

Hmm. Make sense. But still, its a bit speculation only. Thanks
I am getting 112 if right to vote is legal. rest, my friends, serious candidates getting 100-105. these are people who were getting rank in 200-300 in Vajiram tests. while i know that it dosent matter what you get in those tests. but personally i feel that this time UPSC paper was like what coaching walas give. around 60 questions have multiple statements, so that makes it more prone to negative marking. while there are people who did a lot of guesswork and scoring more than 110 but i think they are not many and some are lying about it. I don't know what will be the intake but minimum it will be around 14000(keeping in mind reduced vacancies) so i guess it will be around 105+/-2. Best of luck to all serious candidates!
Yeh serious candidates kya hota hai? 110 se upar waale non serious hai?
Vaji ke rank ki koi aukaat nahi hai, lol vajir rank bhi flaunt karte hai kya log
Apne friends se bolo, thoda aur serious ho jaye, nahi to unke bas ki nahi
The paper was a bit difficult than last year. History, Art and Culture were difficult than last year. Current affairs was not straightforward when compared to last year. But the difficulty was balanced by some questions from polity which were pretty easy where 85% to 90% of polity questions could have been answered correctly. Hence, the paper was not a cake walk but not so very difficult to score either. People can score 110+ if there was focus for 2 hours [55 questions net]. I believe a good number of them are in this range. The fact that large no. of people scoring 125+ last year are scoring 105 to 110 this year doesn't mean, the cut-off would reduce by 10 marks or so. It could be that a huge number of people are concentrated within a range because of the diffuclty of the paper. That range in my intutition would be 105 to 115.
Since CSAT paper II is said to be difficult (which I felt was easier than last year, because I skipped Quantitative questions and took up decision making ones, I'm sailing through comfortably in Paper II at least) If Paper II might drag the cut-off by 1 or 2 marks, I believe the cut-off would be between 108 and 112.
Just a tip for students from next year in CSAT II - Choose your questions carefully. Spend 5 minutes in the hall initially to identify the simplest questions and there were 10 to 15 decision making questions which were easy to tick in 20 minutes. So please identify the easy ones. I got this advise from my friend in last minute before the day of the exam

Cutoff=110 +/- 5
115+ ---- surely in
less than 105 --- probably out;specially with those controversial questions.
