100-105.ppr was not easy.. very less direct qstns. last year hangover of 116 is preventing us to predict below 105.but believe me cutt off wont go beyond 105.
your sentences are contradictory...don't make it a habit in mains.
bhai thoda explaim krdijiye, kya contradictiom hai, mera mains bach jayega apki advice se. thanxx in advance
Contradictory h to h... Bahas q kr ra h... Sir ne bol dia to soch k hi bola hoga.. aur cut off 117 ja ri h.. #insider info. Reason: Easy paper, specifically Poliy diect questions + Less seats + Increased competition.
  • 106-109
  • I have met at least 20-30 guys and almost all of them are scoring around 105...kuchh toh gadbad hai daya :|
  • For 2016, cut of are as follows
    Open 116
    OBC 110
    Sc not known
    St not known.
Only 13000 candidates will write mains this time. Since tracking civil services trend since 2000, my guesses for 2017 are as follows
    Open 110
    OBC 106
    Sc 100
    St 96
    PH 86
    The reasons are as follows
    1) seats are decreased by nearly 100 for final selection
    2) Many newcomers marked on guesses only & these guesses are found to be correct
    3) day by day competition goes on increasing
4)As compare to gs 1, csat paper was very tough no doubt. It's math is very tough but comprehension questions are very easy
    5) Most of paragraph's of csat are from THE HINDU, THE ECONOMIC TIMES, THE INDIAN EXPRESS & some PRESS INFORMATION BUREAU REPORTS.
LET'S SEE WHO WILL BE RIGHT OR WRONG.
I DON'T WANT TO DEMORALISE ANYONE, BUT COMPETITION IS CUT THROAT.

  • solved with detailed analysis CSAT 2017 paper 2 -
  • Gen category should hover around 100, at max 103-104. But depends upon the UPSC key.
Personally I along with many(Mains/interview appeared, some selected) found the paper trickier(I'm not saying tougher) than 2015 GS and CSAT, so 105 toh kabhi cross nahi kar raha likh ke lelo, seats agar thode kam bhi ho.
Time to forget the pre like a bad dream and focus on Mains, agar galti se hogaya toh nahi hone se jada bura lagega for wasting these crucial days. Nishkama Karma.
Don't let anyone influence you, for you too are a rational human being.
    Signing off!

    Sensible.
Upsc might even go with 15000 students to select for mains. It's a good chance to give more student chance.

    P.s just guessing
  • The paper was a bit difficult than last year. History, Art and Culture were difficult than last year. Current affairs was not straightforward when compared to last year. But the difficulty was balanced by some questions from polity which were pretty easy where 85% to 90% of polity questions could have been answered correctly. Hence, the paper was not a cake walk but not so very difficult to score either. People can score 110+ if there was focus for 2 hours [55 questions net]. I believe a good number of them are in this range. The fact that large no. of people scoring 125+ last year are scoring 105 to 110 this year doesn't mean, the cut-off would reduce by 10 marks or so. It could be that a huge number of people are concentrated within a range because of the diffuclty of the paper. That range in my intutition would be 105 to 115.

Since CSAT paper II is said to be difficult (which I felt was easier than last year, because I skipped Quantitative questions and took up decision making ones, I'm sailing through comfortably in Paper II at least) If Paper II might drag the cut-off by 1 or 2 marks, I believe the cut-off would be between 108 and 112.

Just a tip for students from next year in CSAT II - Choose your questions carefully. Spend 5 minutes in the hall initially to identify the simplest questions and there were 10 to 15 decision making questions which were easy to tick in 20 minutes. So please identify the easy ones. I got this advise from my friend in last minute before the day of the exam

Decision making ke questions kaha the paper m?
