As per the discussion, let us start practicing answer writing in this thread. As everyone knows, it is a very important part of our journey and hope this thread helps us to increase our knowledge, diversify out thoughts and help everyone to attain higher marks in the mains 2014. The idea is to take one question per day, let everyone answer it and upload snapshots of their answer in this thread. Then anyone can come up with their suggestions and constructive criticism. Let us make this discussion fruitful and keep the chatter to minimum. Let us focus on current affairs and GS papers.

I am going to start the thread with a question from GS-II in mains 2013

Q. Many state governments further bifurcate geographical areas like districts and taluksbfor better governance. In light of the above, can it also be justified that more number of smaller states would bring in effective governance at state level? Discuss.

Good idea to start with Mains topics. Though there is still the ongoing debate on quality over quantity, the final verdict will come only after we get our Mains marks. Until then, I would suggest everyone aims at answers that are only 150-200 words in target, but with quality.

I think for each question posted ,a list of topics to which it deals with should also be given including the resources that can be referred for guidance.

And after writing I have counted that the words in my answer are 202. What is the acceptable limit of words and will increasing or decreasing by slight margin effect the number of marks we obtain?

@bharat141 ji, nice attempt, just dat feel ur answer is not focussing enuf on governance part of small states n also u can cut down on intro to make ur ans more comprehensive n cover other relevant points.

Also its size seems to be in MBs .Cant we write the answer here itself ?
