6 attempts exhausted, aged 29. The worst that could have happened has happened. I can either drown in self pity or move on! And I am moving on. All the best to everyone else on this thread as well
Respect for you dedication bhai...I am in split mind after my 3rd attempt. Best wishes for your future endeavors.
^^ If it gives you any consolation, I myself went crazy for a month or so after the 19th Feb failure last year.
I drank, broke stuff, destroyed public property, abused people, got in fight, gate crashed parties, watched extreme porn, explored my sexuality, openly favored atheism. In a nutshell, I just lived as if I was going to die the next hour. It's unorthodox but, it helped me!!
An anecdote: I literally fought with a ticket window clerk on New Delhi railway station last year on 13th March. I mean literally fought with fists, kicks and punches. I went inside and slapped him for delaying giving me the ticket. It was a flimsy pretext. I just wanted the fight. Police arrived, my shirt was all torn, my lips were bleeding, I was beaten black and blue by railway staff and then took a laathi from police. But honestly, those moments were the happiest moments for me in March 2016.
Even if I make it to IAS this time, that will be a memorable moment in my life and I'll remember it on my death bed.
Thank you for sharing this sir :-) Had a great time reading it! All the best for your interview sir! Sara gussa nikaal dena is baar -:)

One word answer: Luck.
Detailed answer: Last year my total was 671. General cutoff was 676. Geography was brutally butchered in 2015. In my 2014 attempt I had 275 in Geography and I cleared CSM. In 2015 I had only 181. So, now you know what happened.
I kind of knew it was luck. I am a honors graduate from NIT Kurukshetra in Electrical with 3 years work experience. My AIEEE rank was around 6000. So, I never had doubt in my abilities.
I wrote MPPCS Mains in April 2016 in which I later got selected. I didn't read a word of MP yet my exams went well. From there on - May 2016, my birthday month - I collected myself together, indulged positively on Forum with this profile and bounced back.
^^ Last year during these days, I lost control of myself. I went bat-shit crazy. An year later, I've two pending interviews including that of CSE and one State PCS administrative job in my hand. Ex-MLA of my city wants to marry his daughter with me after a dowry of 70 lakhs.
