M1: Suppose you are designing your own building ,How you will make it under-reinforced or over-reinforced? Me: Sir,I will make it under-reinforced.In under-reinforced structure It is the steel which fails first ,Steel even after yielding has some strength which will give us some time to evacuate the building.Unlike over-reinforced where Concrete will fail first which will lead to collapse of building. M1: What are the other factors we see in the concrete structures ? Me: while designing we see the deflection of beams ,cracks etc. M1: suppose you have to design a bridge over the river, where you will put it on the river? Me: I will check for the location which has shortest width. And also the soil conditions, traffic loading and increase in it over time and any possible highway coming nearby it which will increase the traffic. M1: What is Guide Bund? (after looking on me he even spelled it ) Me :sorry sir,I know about the Bund but not about the Guide bund.
No questions further,he passed on to men member 2 ,just my left. M2: which is the best institute for civil engineering in the world? Me: (having no idea) Sir i not sure about the world, but Roorki used to be best for civil in Asia. M2: if you have to pursue your PHD,which institute you will choose? Me: I will choose any IIT . M2: which one? Me: I will choose my own IIT sir. M2: what is difference between seewage and severage: Me: {I said something which was wrong ,being a civil engineer I should have been known)
M2: so you have read geography for this exam.Where is Antalia? Me:&$^$E ,what? I dont know sir. M2: Why people of Turkey look so much different to Europeans and Americans? Me: Physical appearances? M2: yes Me: there are differences between latitudes which lead in differences among the climate and so on the physical appearances.
He then passed it to M3 his left
M3: What is Difference between sex and gender? Me: sex is the biological division among male and female but gender is cultural division. M3: Why female gender is discriminated? Me: from birth itself ,some notions are attached to them like inferior sex ,mentally weak etc.Nature doesn’t discriminate ,society does.{Then there were some questions on masculinity and other stuff which I can’t recall,I was already in too much pressure) M3: There are two schools of thought :One says there should be reservation in civil services and other say merit should be only criteria, what do you think ?Me: Sir,we don’t have equality of opportunities for all.Without reservation there will be competition among un-equals .We have to first base of all equal then we can think of having competition without reservation. So I think there should be reservation for weaker sections. M3:on what basis reservation is given to people? Me: social and cultural backwardness {off course it should be social and educational)
Then finally to the lady member who was waiting patiently for her turn
L1: Do you think women are the most exploited class in the society ? Me: Mam,it is difficult to say most exploited class, but they are certainly of the exploited class. L1: so you think women should get reservation in Civil services? Me: Constitution doesn’t permit reservation on basis of gender …. {She was really pissed off now and ready to demolise me } L1: why they should not get ? women have reservation in Panchayats. Me: yes mam they have in Panchayats,Even Bihar government has reserved 50% seats in Panchayats. L1 :Then why not in civil services?
Before I could say any’shit’ further, the chairman stopped me and said that’s enough and said ,your interview is over ..you can go now…I left (ran away ).It lasted for 20-25 minutes probably .
I left with my bag and wished the guy ‘all the best’ going after me.
No No... its not my interview.... i have my interview on 24th of this month... this is something i found on googling
it is mentioned somewhere in the interview that his optional is Geography
@all ... what is you opinion about his answers on reservation? (i felt he dug up his own grave).. what would be the best way to tackle the questions on reservation issue? (considering SC verdict on transgender)

I will maintain.. 1. Caste based or social criteria of reservation should be abolished and a economic criteria should be implemented. 2. No reservation for women in civil services!

If would have been asked regarding reservations, my points would be:
a) Although reservation was a good concept as affirmative action, it has bee generally observed that benefits are cornered by candidates having "well-to-do" backgrounds with best of education, thus defeating its original purpose. For me there shouldn't be cascading of reservations. A person should be allowed to take benefit only once in their education or career. This would evenly spread the opportunities.
b) For quite long, we have compartmentalized reservations in terms of caste, we need to broaden its scope, women particularly rural, People with disability and communities like LGBT should also be given appropriate reservations due to their historic neglect.
c) Their is some fundamental flaw in our reservation scheme, initially it was introduced so as to reach to parity after few decades, but now each sub group wants to be included in reservations bandwagon ie jaats, thus we need to decide objective criteria for reservations and give the mandate to constitutional body rather than leaving it to the convenience of political parties.
I feel Government should set up a commission to evaluate the criteria for reservations and thereby generate national debate. Yes there should be reservation but not solely on social backwardness (other criteria can be... the number of time a person using reservation, economic, rural/urban, women/transgender etc.) clearly the present system of reservation has not entirely benefited the needful and there is a need to re-look and contemplate new criteria.

I think this caste based reservation is not fulfilling its intended purpose, it was originally envisioned for creating a social parity and equality of opportunity and later lead to diminishing or eliminating the caste divide in the society. This it has failed but it has actually aggravated the situation, now caste based reservations have become a political rallying point and many groups are fighting over to go lower the caste hierarchy to get the benefit of reservation!! I shall maintain that 50% reservation in education and jobs (including private sector jobs) should be made for economically backward sections irrespective of his/her caste origin.. If in case economic criteria is held up for political reasons then atleast I support a creamy layer criteria for SC/STs which is strictly enforced!
I would've said yes to reservation for women in civil services; Art 15(3) provides a provision for that. If I say no to this, it implies that I don't support women's reservation bill either X_X
