If they manage to recruit objectively (or more objectively and properly than the ridiculous UPSC process) this is a welcome move. This is not the end but the beginning of the end of the IAS. Good riddance.
If folks like Raghuram Rajan, or Montek Singh Ahluwalia can be brought in at the JS level why not. Why must the people persist with those who excelled at cramming spectrum chaap itihaas hundreds of moons ago! But I'm sure they will not allow this through so easily; as even babus are allowed to apply, many of these seats will go to them only.
Eligibility: minimum 40 years age Work experience of 15 years in state govt, psu or such bodies or pvt sector.
It's just for 3 year contract.
I guess it's too less government has done to implement suggestions of various committees constituted by various govt. Veteran congress leader veerappa moily headed 2nd ARC asked more than this for lateral entry. Government could have done better and it should not have been limited only to JS and 15 year experience or 40 year age it too much.

They're getting a foot in the door. Will shape fully in 15-20 years.
There are some people making forum toooo political. RSS rss har thread comments mein same allegations.
Question paper? Rss Marks? Rss Lateral entry? Rss Reduction in vacancy? Rss Pattern change? Rss Anything under the sky happens because of RSS.
Just a suggestion from fellow aspirant: please show maturity and don't indulge in futile and sometimes only non-sense discussion. Some people have created more than 20 threads all of which are political. You don't prepare for sure but let others do.
And please read more about lateral entry. Go through 2nd ARC recommendation, previous civil service reform committee recommendations, history of efforts towards lateral entry if any and then comment apolitically.
Just a suggestion. Baki aap future ias hain. Jo karenge sahi hai.
very aptly put, but it's beyond my comprehension as to why didn't ,if this thing about lateral entry was already so obvious, folks simply went for mba,and instead exhausted their attempts , and keep exhausting their attempts at upsc? if the writing on wall is so self-evident why do you still persist with your resolve to get into service through upsc route?

rajan and Ahluwalia must have also crammed when studying in colleges and universities. everyone crams unless an Einstein or a newton. these "spectrum chaap " also include db subbarao, yv reddy etc as good as rajans and Ahluwalias, if not better. having said that, diversity is necessary and no problem in lateral entry. but, needless to say, it should be objective and according to rules

Did not ge you. No one has exhausted their attempts because today 10 seats at JS level for 3 year contract only will be given to people with 15 year experience and 40 years age.
3 year contract with this qualification won't affect your chances of selection, trust me. Real question is reduction of seats in UPSC exam and will that continue next year? Question is, what government plans to do by reducing vacancies and why was there a drastic reduction.
Civil services in not for job or employment in a narrow sense. Let them recruit 10 people for 3 year each if it helps bureaucracy and let's prepare for our exam without bothering much. IAS vacancies this year too have been as normal as they were. So we must relax and give some space to ARC recommendations to get applied at least partially.
Why we should prepare because almost all vacancies are still in open.. Competition outside for those 10-12 seats will be above our limits and we are not eligible in coming two decades if we go by notification. There is no point getting anxious if vacancies next year stay the same or increase. Good luck bro.

Work experience of 15 years in state govt, psu or such bodies or pvt sector.
