Confusion hua hai sab bc. I have seen people doing Pg are unsatisfied,People working as MO in PHCs most unsatisfied....Now seeing People in Services are also unsatisfied.... pakka batao karna kya hai ? Suna hai G.J. ke election results pe Modi bhi unsatisfied tha.
I can't decide .. Some of my known are giving state pcs .Their rationale is that they cannot go back to pg preparation and medical field after so many years. They are advising me to do the same. A/T them with the knowledge base I have accumulated during upsc preparation can easily help me in clearing pcs . I am confused . Both cant be prepared simultaneously and i have to decide soon . Can't waste more time now . I have never given pcs , have no idea about exam or job profile . If anyone has some idea , please guide me .
If you can shoot good clinical branch in PG then it is better than any state pcs job..
If you see the job by keeping away your medical profession aside.. it's good.. but it can't be compared with career of a medical professional.
You can go for it if you are not at all interested in Medicine, or you have developed very deep interest in administration.
But again the exam process of state pcs is very long.
In terms of pay scale it is similar to Medical officers posted in PHCs but the thing is MOs don't get any recognition till they become civil surgeon while PCS people get that from very beginning.

Yaar sab Ko apni life achhi nhi lgti.. dur se dekh kr lgta hai ki wo to sahi hai.. like people doing PG think that any post in UPSC is better than their job and people in lower services think that doing PG is better.
Mains results are out. Congratulations to those who cleared it. Mention whether you cleared or not and the reason thereafter. There are a lot of us who after failing continuously are in dilemma of what to do next. Going for PG preparation alone does not seem sustainable if attempts are left. Doing both simultaneously is not possible. So let's come out and draw a strategy together on which we can work.
Last year I went for pg preparation before final result. Studied my ass off for two months but was nowhere near optimum level. That's when I realised pg requires specialised preparation for at least one year. If you are feeling dejected right now, I say start your pg preparation right now. Batches have already started. Focus for one month on CMS and try to get in the list. Then achieve even a moderate rank and opt for cool pg branches and then prepare.
Yeah sure bro.. PG is no easy task.. in two months time you can only manage to qualify but it is next to impossible to get a good rank.. it requires serious effort for atleast an year.
@driftedpath bhai. State pcs me tabhi hai jab you have lost all interest in medical practice. Getting a good rank in PG is extremely difficult nowadays but you're assured of a seat after serious effort of one or two years. The same time would be consumed by a state pcs in declaring mains results only. Even then you're not assured of SDM. Rest jobs in state pcs are not worth for a central government group A servant. You don't even require preparation for state pcs. I say focus on PG if you're that unsatisfied with your current job. But I still feel you should stick to the current job, develop some hobby, join a public health NGO, seek central deputation or earn a degree in public administration sponsored by government and improve your job profile for policy making positions. Easier said than done but certainly worth a try.
In medical field, if u r just mbbs..then civil services is much better...If u have done a good clinical pg and u know ur work, then only IAS, IPS and IRS are better...But if u have done a dm superspeciality , then even IAS and IPS cant match the fame, name, aura, money, and comfort of a DM superspeciality....In medical field what matters is how skillfull the doctor is...Being a good doctor is not a job..its not a profession...Its a lifestyle....

I am a pg ,clinical branch ,delhi.Medical has not performed well this year.I too failed in mains.People are disgruntled here.But let me tell you,no exam is bigger than IAS in India.It is the toughest exam,even more than DM cardiology or mch urology.In medical there is assured selection,but not in IAS.Most people give UPSC just for IAS.The fame,aura,recognition,status is unmatchable.But stakes are high.If one has attempts,go for ias. After IAS,ips is ok and may be irs too but after that there is nothing much.As per my personal opinion
