  • Any body here could help with cadre preference in IFoS? Putting home state as my first. What should be the criteria to decide after that? Anyone having any friend or senior in the service already can probably help here.
After having worked on the field a bit with some NGOs and on the basis of my conversations with some senior IFoS officers, I was asked to keep the following things in mind while selecting my cadre preferences :-

    1. We will have to learn the local language. So it helps if it is a little similar to our mother tongue.
    2. After marriage, kids education becomes a big problem. So people prefer territorial postings (away from junglee regions). We should spare a thought about that.
    3. Convenience of travel to your home state
    4. If you have dependant parents, vicinity to hospitals might similarly be an issue you should keep in mind.
    5. For the same reasons, do spare a thought about the local cuisine/food habits (personal experience with my parents)

(Not all of them might pose an issue in the beginning, but as per the officers, after some years of service, they may)
    Thanks buddy
  • guys i don't want to appear in ifos (csm overload)so should i fill daf or totally avoid it?I mean It won't affect my csm daf/application right? Please help, first timer here!
@sandrokottos No it won't affect anything. Just go and write English and GS papers on day one. It would be a good simulated mock test for essay and GS. ;) I guess you'll have UPSC as exam centre if u r from North India. It's always enjoyable to write papers in UPSC halls. I'll do this for 4th time :D
  • @pks11630 and other senior members....

Can we just fill Home State/UT Declaration using pdf reader/microsoft word and then attaching the signature we alredy scanned for prelims??
This way we can avoid taking print then filling and then again scanning and uploading.

    Actually, I don't have scanner/printer.
  • @bhamboo Bhai I know you are an engineer but refrain from doing so :D
Print lo and sign karo and then scan.

Yup they ask for job experience certificate.

No need bhai.... If you were in govt. job then you are not obliged to and if u wr in private no need to... There is some rule that training period is not counted as full job or something like that... and UPSC clerks literally torture if there is any discrepancy in NOC or exp. certi... Best is not to mention...
