Regarding the CS, Governor question. Lets get one thing right. What UPSC decides is final. The UPSC has already decided in IES 2006 paper that the answer to this question is (d) Neither 1 nor 2. Yes, this question is a straight forward repeat from IES 2006 General Studies Paper. This is the link:

In that one also there was a question in 2005 or so in one of the UPSC conducted exams in which a few statements were given and the option containing the correct set of statements was to be marked. The correct answer in that did not contain that statement in the question which says "The President is the custodian of the Constitution". Thats it.
UPSC's views and interpretations matter. They have already been expressed before.

Secondly in UNCCD mein, there is special/particular focus on North Africa and South Asia. I strongly feel this shud be right. But I am not able to find exact words in Google. Can somebody help here
They don't have special focus on North America and South Asia. They have identified certain zones and areas which are rapidly undergoing desertification, and those are spread around Europe, Americas and Africa and Asia. True, Sahel in Africa is one of the largest, and possibly more could be in South Asia, but there is no dedicated focus

In the advantages of drip irrigation it says: 2. No water being available to weeds. 7. No soil erosion.
and it mentions that "salinity hazards" is a disadvantage.
There is some explanation in Wikipedia:
The main purpose of drip irrigation is to reduce the water consumption by reducing the leaching factor. However, when the available water is of high salinity or alkalinity, the field soil becomes gradually unsuitable for cultivation due to high salinity or poor infiltration of the soil. Thus drip irrigation converts fields in to fallow lands when natural leaching by rain water is not adequate in semi arid and arid regions.
Not questioning the answer. It is reduced weeds, and reduced soil erosion.
Want to understand how it controls soil erosion?
I thought that drip irrigation = no water logging = less salinity. But that is wrong.
And I couldn't figure how it will help in soil erosion? An explanation from someone, thank you.

These forces will anyways be there(in case of flood water or speedy winds etc) whether drip irrigation or any other form of irrigation is being practiced. So, preventing soil erosion does not seem to be a very promising option. This is my inference of the links , please correct me if I am wrong.
