Can anybody elaborate on the postings in the AGMUT cadre? If you get Andaman, are you stuck there for life? Will you spend your life jumping between these places frequently? What are the disadvantages when it comes to selection for higher posts? And is it true that some non-domicile toppers choose AGMUT?
Boss, I think- these guys flip between their respective cadres and Delhi after a certain pre-defined time interval. So it would be A&N- Delhi-A&N. or Arunachal-Delhi-Arunachal. However there is lot of lobbying to prolong their stay at Delhi (acc to Maheshwari- a pub ad writer)
Also, I believe a lot of ppl opt for AGMUT for Delhi posting only, but I might be wrong (infact I want to be wrong here)!
@Caartey : Dude m actyally confused about this!!! Please help me out!!!
If my first preference is IAS n in that if suppose i choose only 2 states( mentioning NIL for other states) n my second preference is IPS for which i might keep my options open for all states!!!
Now my question is what if i dont get the 2 states which i choose for IAS!!! Will I be given IAS in some other state or will i b considered for IPS??

@vrteja Services are alloted initially and States/Cadres at a later stage. If alloted IAS and you don't get your first 2 choices, you would be alloted some other state and not IPS.
@pratikh DAF is intially filled online and after completion a print out with fees stamp, sign and other documents are to me sent in hard copy after wards...
@vrteja You are making a big mistake... let me explain... The cadre allotment happens around the time you are in training already... At this stage they can't change your service allocation... When you fill only two options they will check if those are available if not then they won't allot next available state... Instead They will keep your name separately till they allot all candidates for whom the choices they have indicated are available then at last remaining states will be the cadres no one prefers or the ones least preferred... They will allot that to you...
So there is not benefit to leaving references empty, actually it can end up screwing your whole career... Simple thing is what ever preference you indicate high or low don't leave any blanks... Remember there are no negative marks here... read the para i have quoted on the first post again...
@Partho Your parents must be in some central service if you have lived in so many states.
@Caartey So which job requires no training and less work, after allocation. Because i have done a lifetime of work preparing for this exam and i am big lazy bone. By the way nice initiative i didn't knew service allocation, cadres and probation included honeymoon.
