    @sanki
The cadre allocation will be done while FC is going on...
The service/cadre specific stuff will be part of the phase I training (1 year duration) after the 3 month foundation course, which is very basic revision of imp GS topics, basic physical training and some other fun stuff...
Also note FC is common for IAS,IFS and IPS @ LBSNAA
    But phase I for
    IAS @ LBSNAA.
    IPS @ SVPNPA,Hyderabad.
    IFS @ FSTI,Delhi.
  • @Caartey : Oh c'mon dude ,not everybody is a layman in the group!!! I have done my research (read the gazette n checked cadre allocation) before approaching the forum!!! As nothing specific is mentioned about the service allocation in reference to cadre allocation in the gazette or in the new cadre allocation policy i had a ray of hope so thought of asking more experienced players and moreover as u said one has to be very careful is selecting their service and cadre so i was trying to be over cautious!!! Then i pinged the other guy i mentioned in the previous comment and u at the same time n got different responses so thought of re confirming it but don't know why you got pissed off!!!

Instead of such a long boring msg, " I am dam sure!!" could have sufficed :)

BTW thanks for the help mate!!!

P.S. : I have also read about the limited cadre preference but its no where clearly mentioned that Service > Cadre!!
  • @Caartey - thanks for enriching my vocab. with this new word "Ask-Hole"! Its so kewl... ;)
  • @Caartey
yup, thats right. i shall not post useless comment.

there is one thing though. don't they train you for cadre once you are in training, local language , culture etc, i thought that was a part of it. so won't they allocate your cadre with your choice of service.?
@Sanki To add to what @caartey has already mentioned, State-specific training about culture, customs, revenue-system etc starts ONLY after you JOIN the allotted cadre. Cadres are not allotted at the time of allocation of service. You can follow persmin.nic.in and notice that Service allocation should happen soon, but Cadre allocation would take a few more months.

@vrteja Your query has already been answered. So! :) About what Nikhil Pavan Kalyan told you, he is factually incorrect. As I already mentioned above, keep following Persmin.nic.in. You would notice that services would be allotted soon, but Cadre-allotment would take time.
  • Ok i have a question. Once a cadre is allocated is it possible to get other state after some time, like 10-15 years later or the person is stuck with that state for the lifetime?
  • Apart from top three services all other posts through CSE are comparatively comfy and family friendly..i know two candidates from ST category who got IRS and they had in excess of 10 attempts left but they never sat for UPSC again for so called elite services....
  • @dark_knight
they are quite strict about cadre change but still first and most popular is marriage with officer of desired cadre(easiest way) and then there is inter cadre deputation for fixed time or central deputation after certain years of service in allocated cadre
  • @rav23cbzx
In the marriage transfer option they might ask your spouse to move to your cadre too...
or send both of you to a third and unexpected cadre...

Inter cadre deputation is very very rare ...
Only officers with highly specific and very unique talents are borrowed/lent between cadres when serious needs arise...

Central Deputation is the most common escape and most of them are called to Delhi...
Also one interesting thing many aspirants may not be aware of is
An officer is very close to any of major parties in a state, but is not co-operative with the other party when they come to power is given an option of central deputation even some international chances like UNICEF , UNESCO projects and even Interpol Deputations...
If he takes it he is safe but if he insists i ll stay here i keep troubling you that's when the serial transfers begin...
  • Hmm interesting. Thanks guys.
  • @rav23cbzx
not co-operative with the other party when they come to power is given an option of central deputation even some international chances like UNICEF , UNESCO projects and even Interpol Deputations...
Aren't central deputation and international postings prized ones......and they give it to their adversaries?
