@fallen_leaves , @Caartey : Are you sure about that!!! Cos i just spoke to Nikhil Pavan Kalyan who got 60 rank last year n he was telling me that " if you are not getting your preferred cadre for IAS , then you will be automatically considered for IPS"
@caartey even my condition is little bit same as @Partho means i am born in Odisha, all my schooling from Jharkhand, grad from Odisha and now working in Odisha. Also my parents belong to UP and Rajasthan. just wanted to know one thing how to determine parents home state. Means there home state will be where they born or where they might have ancestral property. If you have knowledge plz share. Also do we have to show some proof for parents home state.

I don't think he is correct. Like people have mentioned, service allotment is done much before the cadre allotment. You will get your IAS cadre while you are going through the foundation course, there is no scope to change your service after that.
@vrteja I am not going to give you wrong information or contradict the info that others gave you. Look you are aspiring to be a top officer and asking other people stuff and unable to decide who to believe are the things you should start changing about your self...

@mach24 tanki bhar pani mein to bed bhi nahi doobega. rooms build for IAS quarters or bungalows are pretty big. even tsunami can't produce more than swimming pool well dhulne ke baad pochna hi bachta hai , wohi karenge i think ,
@Caartey yes i was searching for rules about parents home state. Ok will look again previous posts. But will the hone state thing really matter. Means we are free to fill cadres for IAS ,IPS irrespective of it being our home state or not. Also other services will be allotted according to vacancies. So how does home state really matters. we should focus more on services allocation choices.
@Caartey yup, thats right. i shall not post useless comment. ------------ there is one thing though. don't they train you for cadre once you are in training, local language , culture etc, i thought that was a part of it. so won't they allocate your cadre with your choice of service.?
