@Maxi & @fallen_leaves i wanted to ask if Indian polity notes provided by Sriram sir are sufficient or we need to supplement them with laxmikanth or any other book?
@jasmeetsingh Yes. The notes for subjects taught by Mr Sriram i.e. Polity and Economics are more than enough. You may refer the Polity Bible - Lakshmikant for doubts and clarification. However, either of it, Srirams Notes or Lakshikant does the job. And preferably, follow just one of them.
And yes. I am talking about Prelims.
What about Economic Notes. Are they sufficient standalone or required to be backed up by Ramesh Singh or some other book. Share your opinion just like you did for Polity.
@Maxi Well. Even Economics notes were pretty much sufficient for Prelims. I repeat again. Prelims. The coverage is pretty comprehensive and updated. UPDATED is the most important part.Mr Sriram covers most of the recent relevant issues/topics that are related to Economics in his notes. Which may/may not be covered in Ramesh Singh etc. For eg. He covered Glivec, Nexavar and other such relevant issues/court-cases in the concerned chapters. Getting current-affairs related portion with its concerned chapter in the notes itself is pretty helpful. You may need to refer Ramesh Singh, once a while, for selective topics. But on the whole, the notes were more than enough!
@fallen_leaves But what about Mains? We need to supplement the notes for Mains?
@jasmeetsingh About Mains, my friend, I am as unaware as you are. With the changed pattern, I am not in a position to comment on whether or not it would be sufficient for Mains. Moreover, Economics classes are yet to happens, so we would need to wait and watch to be able to ascertain if the content would suffice or not. If you were to ask me for World History, I could tell you that I don't think class notes would suffice. And that is my personal opinion!
@fallen_leaves . Okay I'm taking History as an optional so that shouldn't be a problem for me as I'll have to cover somewhere else too. If you have any other inputs or suggestions for us it will be welcomed (like reading XYZ magazine and not reading this from Sriram sir's notes, giving a write-up quite often etc etc) TIA.

@Maxi Hey Man! Apologies for the late reply man. Lol. I guess by now, you know what he covered in the class on 4th July. And yes. They distributed another booklet, I guess you would be knowing that.
@Maxi@Others How did you guys find the P-IV portion coverage? Initially I was skeptical about the guy but of-late he did well. I believe he has sound subject knowledge, though he was lacking the confidence/skills to present it before the class. At-least in the initial few days. And how was today's test?
Well yes, I got to know what was covered in that class and got the booklet as well. Test was good by UPSC standards, I think, but my performance was just fine. About the faculty, you mentioned very correctly even I think his coverage and subject knowledge was amazing and it was all good in the end. Let's see what's in store for us tomorrow for Sociology portions.

Hi Pragati , I think the printed material will be easily available to you in the class itself. Whenever you join again, you can ask for it and they will provide it to you, they have extra copies. I know this because I missed a class in between and got the material next day from them. Regarding class notes, I do not make much class notes as all the faculties keep on saying whatever we are dictating is available in the printed material and keep focussing on understanding the concepts. However, whatever extra dictation they have given which is other than the printed material is with me but there is one serious flaw in my notes and that is my handwriting which is almost impossible to be deciphered by anybody apart from me. So, would not be able to help in that case as well. @fallen_leaves might be able to help you out here. Anyways, when are you joining back the course.

The faculty mentioned that although reading material is good enough for exam preparation but it can be supplemented with few books/ notes as mentioned below:
1. Prep can be started by NCERT Books (New ones for Indian Society) - It will serve as a base. 2. It should be followed by Indian Society - K L Sharma (Old NCERT - Class XII). 3. After that one should go for NOS notes/ IGNOU - BA Notes. Both are good enough and should suffice for exam. 3. If one want to go further, one can go for Indian Society - S C Dube (NBT Book - National Book Trust) or Ram Ahuja or other various books available in market. It's one's choice and not must. But among these books, his recommendation was S C Dube.
Most importantly from all of these books, only selective study needs to be done as per syllabus requirements and one not need to go for holistic coverage of all the books.
By the way, this was not covered (explained) in the class itself; it was a part of query session after the class in which very few people were present so this is the most exclusive info I am sharing here which most of people who even attended the class don't know. I hope it helps. Cheers!!
