@maxi @vrteja @horizon_21 @a13g Hi all! So today was my turn to miss the class. Got up real late and then got stuck in traffic. Lol. So can you guys please help with what was covered in the class today? What is the schedule till 23rd, if they mentioned in details? Were any handouts given? Any other relevant stuff?

    Cheers!

@fallen_leaves I also woke up late but was just in time to join the class at 8:20 A.M. I think it's the gap which caused us all to woke up late. Missing sociology classes impacted our schedule seriously. :D But, Metro saved me today else I'd have missed the class completely :)
As mentioned by @a13g the wait was over finally and Sriram sir took the class. Started GS Paper III. One booklet was handed over which was pretty bulky but there were just two topics. Notes are quite detailed as expected of Sriram sir. Inclusive growth was covered today and it's the turn of infrastructure tomorrow.
He reiterated the fact several times that it's just the beginning of story and your playground for exams for UPSC is from 1 June - 1 November of which just 1.5 months has passed and a lot is yet to follow - more stories will come. Story on Rupee is yet to sort out, cyber security - NCCC, CMS yet to be worked upon. FDI in many sectors has been opened up today, it's impact will follow and he said that we will cover updated version of every topic in detail in current affairs section and not to worry about anything.
I personally asked him at the end of the class do we need to follow any standard texts and he said that entire material will be circulated by August end and we'll see if any text is required to be read after that. Till then just keep reading 'Hindu' and the material given in the class.
As mentioned by @a13g, it was the best day after the History classes but yes, the best is yet to come - I hope. :)

@a13g I've been wondering about this for long and was waiting for someone to come from 3-5 pm batch to ask them. But as you attended the class in that batch today, I am gonna ask you. How's the 3-5 pm batch. Is it also crowded same as Morning batch and hows the atmosphere at that time in the classroom as it's afternoon. Waking up early for 8-10 Am batch daily is too hard for me. So, if 3-5 pm batch is similar, will it be worth joining it?

@Maxi : that was one hell of an explanation dude( m talking about ur post)!!!! crystal clear i would say :)
N coming to the class, yes this is the best by far!!!
Sriram sir was repeatedly mentioning November, dude is he seriously gonna extend the class till November??

@fallen_leaves : his notes will do the job for u!!!! bt u can't afford to miss his class :P n maxi bhai have't left anything for me to cover :D
  • @vrteja Thanks for the compliment. Though I just tried my best.
Anyways, I don't think the class in gonna stretch till November. It was as he mentioned that whatever we are dealing with is basic and what you build on this base in the time we've with us before exams is up to you (Not exact quote but the essence was this), I think he's gonna end the classes by 5-10 Oct as was mentioned to me by the receptionist in their office when I was depositing the fee for this course. Moreover, they're starting the new batches for Pre-cum-Mains for CS 2014 in the month of October (hearsay - Not sure) which will start once our batches end.
@fallen_leaves You can't afford to miss the classes tomorrow onwards. :D
  • @maxi It's equally crowded. seeing so many people i actually start thinking cut off 240+ na ho jae :( ... anyways, the atmosphere in the class is fine, those stupid coolers do some benefit. waking up at 8 is a task for me too, but 3-5 is an odd time i feel- you know, the bin pende ka lota types situation.
I did not get the analogy. Why do you feel it's an odd time?
    :-?
And how's Sriram sir in the 3-5 class. Is he as fresh as in the morning or as if the day's get to him?

@a13g @maxi @vrteja Thanks a lot for your inputs people. Really appreciate that :)

I have not been keeping well and that was the reason for waking up late. I was contemplating whether or not to go for today class. I read the comments early this morning and decided to make it to the class, somehow or other. Lol. Thankfully I was late by just 10-15 mins :D

I agree, apart from History, this has been the best session so far. I have attended Mr Srirams classes during Prelims as well and what I really appreciate about him is his straight-forwardness and how well he aligns with UPSCs perspective. Thought process wise that is.

I remember in the 1st class how he mentioned that UPSC has changed the syllabus not just for the sake of it and how appreciating this journey and learning in letter and in spirit would not only be helpful for UPSCs preparation but would also help the individual otherwise. During Prelims people asked him random questions and he always gave honest answers and not necessarily what suited his interests!

About the duration of the classes, they had initially mentioned 2 1/2 months. However, I doubt that would be the case as its already been 1 1/2 months. Though, Mr Sriram said that the classes should stretch for around 100 days and I guess that is how they may do it! That would be like September end and it would be just in time for their October batch for 2014.
  • @a13g @vrteja @fallen_leaves Guys, today I missed the class. Could you please let me know what was covered today in the class and what's supposed to be covered tomorrow? Thanks in Advance.
