Considering how rabidly anti-Modi N.Ram and Malini Parthasarathy are, the editorial line of the Hindu is not going to be surprising. And is Guha any better? His political bias is evident in his writings on History. This is what he had to say in 'India After Gandhi' about the Gujarat riots:

The kar sevaks clambered back into the train, which started moving even as stones were being thrown. However, the train stopped on the outskirts of the station, when a fire broke out in one of its coaches. Fifty-eight people perished in the conflagration. Godhra was a town with along history of communal violence; it had experienced serious riots inhe VHP claimed that it was the handiwork of a Muslim mob. On the other hand, forensic evidence suggests that it originated inside the carriage, and was probably the result of a gas cylinder or paraffin stove accidentally catching fire.

This, when the forensic report (http://www.outlookindia.com/article/Report-of-Forensic-Science-Laboratory-State-of-Gujarat/218028) and the victim testimony (http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Default/Layout/Includes/CREST/ArtWin.asp?From=Archive&Source=Page&Skin=CREST&BaseHref=TCRM/2010/05/22&GZ=T&ViewMode=HTML&EntityId=Ar00900&AppName=1) say something altogether different.

He based his historical narrative on the Banerjee report whose credibility was as good as the one published by the Samajwadi Party post the Muzaffarnagar riots. Our so called 'eminent' historian completely missed any mention of the contradicting forensic or victim testimony. The Nanavati-Shah report was to later negate the Banerjee report and corroborate the findings of the forensics and the testimonies.

You can only imagine how much more political bias he has served cloaked as 'history' to the people. And how much we have mugged up and puked in various examinations.
  • Let this thread be for Atal and MMM ji. Modi kaha se aa gaya beech mein? Intellectuals ke saat yehi panga hai. Technicalities mein guss jaate hai. Kal do log Gold aur Platinum pe ladai karr rahe the. Bhawnaon ko samjho. :D
  • my fav. prime minister of our nation.
    good governance !! Atal ji
