  • I want the Bharat ratna to be given to Shri Verghese kurien, Shri Baba Amte and Shri Dhyan Chand.
They deserve it more than anyone else right now. Sad they dont have any political constituency to plead their case with the govt.
The most deserving.Real ratnas of India.
And what about people from army who laid down their lives for the country . What about Sam Manekshaw ?

No one is taking anything away from them. He is one of the only two Field Marshals. And till now no armed forces personnel has been conferred civilian honors. The exclusion is debatable and regrettable.
  • BR for stalwarts like Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is a must (for the relevance of the BR itself).

Government should set-up a committee to prepare a list of all those who are deserving and confer the award in one shot and end all the controversy. They can even call it the LLRC if they feel like (in another sense).

Of course, there is the whole posthumous award controversy that needs to be settled.
  • LLRC LOL.
    :))

actually if we start counting , there are so many people in every field , in every walk of life that deserve this award. I feel that giving this award away to few is akin to belittling the efforts of others. These awards , I think , should be done away with.

That would perhaps be a more graceful way out. That would be an acceptance of human limitations even at the most able levels as well as the abundance of human greatness at the same time. But, I doubt if it would ever be so.
  • Ram Chandra Guha disagrees with Bharat Ratna.
