Guys.. For the sake of argument, lets say optional is removed and two new GS papers are added. What could be the topics? Keep in mind the UPSC words - GS papers do not require any specialized study and any one should be able to answer it with current affairs knowledge and static portions fro school syllabus.
I can think of Economy getting one full paper, S&T, Environment & Computers - One full paper, GS 6 - Public administration in India?

If there is only superficial changes why would upsc bother about opinion of new govt?

Asking because ,by Ur versioin, it seems there is only a syllabus change. Now in 2008 there was syllabus change in optionals. Govt had no role in it. Syllabus, marks, questions per paper are usually decided by upsc. Govt only lays down broad scheme of exam. If there is a change in scheme only then file would go to govt
