  • guys i felt that those people who were facing interviews for the first time were asked easier questions and those who are already in service are getting tough interview sessions. This is based on my interaction with many people already in service ,even the person who went just before me was an IRS officer and told me on the next day that it was totally a stress interview and very difficult and factual questions were asked whereas in my case the board was very cordial and asked very general questions. Is this true or just my imagination?
  • @ raw: I agree
  • Am I the only one thinking 568 is simply too low, even with strict marking?

That's like 100+60+80+80+60+95+95 (in order of papers), which is modest.
This is just the cutoff. But yes, the scores seem to be lower than my expectation of a cutoff.
What you guys think would be excellent and good and average scores in interview this year
based on expectations, average would be 190 ;)
Average 190! Very good scores of 210-240 last year are now 180-210. So average score should be around 150-160 considering average score of 180-190. A medium good score will be 160-180 considering 190-210 last year.
Saw the wink? I meant that I am yet to hear of anyone thinking their interview was worth much less than 190 even if they think their mains score would be close to avg. Bias due to direct contact.
  • no i don't think its low .... even if you consider marks awarded in GS ( except paper 4 ) , essay and optionals to be in the same proportion as last year... the cut off should have been around 610 ( 700/2000 * 1750 )....in ethics , marking has been strict bringing down cut off by 30 marks ( i hope this info is correct ) plus higher calls this time ( ~ 350 extra calls) further 10 marks fall...thus total fall of 40 marks...thus final cut off ( 610 -40 = 570 ).. :)

If the info. related to ethics paper turns out to be false the cut off would hit the 600 mark....voila !!

Ultimately, it won't matter in either case ur absolute distance from cut off will remain the same...u just need to subtract or add 30 marks...
  • @Ging7- I think a number of people are still evaluating their interviews out of 300
  • Waiting for result is soo boring.....especially when there's nothing to do after the interview :((
How are you guys passing your time??

I think "95+95" would not count as modest (a mains score just enf for an int call is typically average in all papers + good in a couple of them).
For instance, a typical break-up of 700 of last year would be GS 240 Essay 90 Op 1 170 Op 2 200 where Op 200 is what can be considered a good score (but not great! )
  • At Orkut, people are putting new syllabus of Optional subjects. Does anyone here know where is it coming from?? :-/

What you guys think would be excellent and good and average scores in interview this year
    Excellent- 202+ (2012 equivalent= 220+)
    Good- 183+ (2012 equivalent= 200+)
    Average- 160 (2012 equivalent= 175)
  • What is the mains cut off predicted by insiders? Has bond, zappa made any predictions?
Eerily enough, India just reconfirmed the general cutoff as 568 on orkut.
