hello. I am going to begin civil service preparation from this year. I am going to join june batch of vajiram or sriram. From reviews I have had, both sriram and vajiram are best but vajiram is better of two. I am in slight confusion,since sriram is starting early,so will finish early which will give me more time to study on my own later,so should i join sriram or wait for vajiram batches? I am on a year leave from my organisation, and I will be rejoining my department in March 2015,which is when Sriram's would end their June 2014 coaching. Kindly suggest !

I am studying in Sriram and so extremely tempted to write about it. I earlier joined Made easy for my engineering service examination, and it was thoroughly professional institute. Well, I can not say the same about Sriram. In a nutshell, if i can go back in time, i wouldn't have joined it.... read through the following for the reasons
First of all, the teaching style is that, the teachers would come in and start giving a lecture and there is no class room notes (So its actually the class room where faculty wont need a board and student dont need pen n paper).......the style didnt worked for me as retaining is very less even soon after the class.
Majority of the teachers are old (45+), they have good experience, but dont expect any analyses on UPSC or predictions or any insight on current topics, which in fact is the reason one attend these expensive classes. As such teachers just teaches, dont care for what exam, bulk of oldies jus teaches bsc and bcom stuff and relevant part is very little.
there is no organization. our history finished with 4 long breaks. our entire feb and march was taken up by topix of no relevance to pre exam like sociology, moral philosophers, ESSAYS etc., especially with major topics untouched, which was so frustrating. they often give 2-3 days break even when loads of curriculum is balance, indicating lack of PERMANENT faculty and inefficient planning.
The test series is a big joke. total strength of candidates is only around 750. 1) you cant asses ur comparative performance. 2) compared to vajram (where its arround 6000) its jus too small.
Current affairs supplementary books are jus copied and pasted stuff from net, with no content page (very sad) and no division of news in various streams like polity, science and tech (even sadder)
All i can say if u have already prepared for IAS and jus wanna revise (which is surely an costly decision) then join it else some subjects like economy and even polity (if u are totally new to the subject) with go over ur head. Sriram have not adapted well (rather not at all) to the changing pattern of upsc. I cant say much about Vajiram since i did not study their, but they atleast have huge infrastructure, permanent teachers, and strong back end team and lets face it... toppers are from there only
Hey people. I could not get a token for admission and they have put me down on a waitlist with no assurance of admission. Also, have been hearing from a lot of people that vajiram does not teach much for mains part. Is that true? The infra is good though. The people at their office were very rude As well. Do you think I should wait for vaji admission or look to other institutes?
Is Sriram better or als then? I'm a history graduate from Delhi university and my seniors advise against als because of their class length and all that. Also, I got a call from a place called unique. They told me they have some teachers from vajiram, raus and ksg also teaching there. They said they have an upper class strength of 100? Is it possible? Will they stick to their words?
I'm really confused? Whaat to do? Any suggestions please welcome.
