For the uninitiated ones.... 1.Depressed classes never wanted reservation.Mcdonald award was for separate electorates for dalits. But due to the cowardice Fast unto death tactic of Gandhi( gujrat ka beta jisko Baad me pure Desh ka baap Bana Diya Gaya) Dr.Ambedkar was forced to accept reservation in politics , education and services. It was no more than peanuts for us.And that 10 years limit was for political reservation not for reservation in services and education. What parliament do every 10 years is to just renew it.
2.Reservation is not the poverty alleviation program of government which can be initiated or scrapped through a stroke of pen.It is for a very specific purpose and would continue till the fulfilment of that purpose.
3.It doesn't matter who from community holds the post.It is the feeling of empowerment that gushes through us by merely seeing the member of our community.
4.There is a tendency among the failures of general category to blame everything on reservation. If you are such brilliant doctors and engineers why don't you go to the Unreserved western countries to show your talent .Why still the politicians and other celebrities do not consider you worthy of treating them. But for every malaise you will blame reservation.
5.There is no reservation in sports. The brilliant and extremely talented athletes couldn't win a single gold in Olympics. What happened there? Also it doesn't require any distinctive genius to say that our armed forces are one of worst in the world.Again there is no reservation here too. Then why likes of Sharma's Singh's and suhags are easily pounded by Chinese at their whims and fancies.Pandit prime minister has gifted territory to Pakistanis.
6.In absence of reservation scenario would be as assymetric as the composition of Indian cricket team.India could give only two or three dalit cricketers. When will we have our serena Williams ,Michael Jordan ,Tiger Woods etc..
7.Having said all of this I would say those who have got benefits of reservation for more than three generations should voluntarily leave it.But to say that economic basis should be the criteria for reservation is like making mockery of one's own understanding of Indian Society.
Lagta hai dalitpanther kanaiya se Tution leke aya hai.

If i say that latter part of your point number 5 is blasphemous kindly excuse me. Asking for reservation is another thing, if you have sound reasons you will get support but what is this, demeaning our Armed Forces?
Just for your knowledge, India is fifth strongest armed force of the world. It has the 2nd largest land army. It is the champion of PKFs.
I simply can't understand how could one make such derogatory remark for the Armed forces. They live in isolation. No celebrity status. They die of asphyxia in Siachen just to satisfy ego of we Indians. If they come back bring neuro diseases with them.
Its waste of time & energy explaining something here, when you have self concieved notions.
To prove that you are right, you need not make everything else wrong.
People demeaning their own armed forces are often cowards who shudder at the thought of the front line and get nightmares about conscription. They act like disgruntled victims to rationalise their acts of cowardice. Cowards have no chance of selection, this much I'm sure of the capacity of the interview board.
Don't worry, this "reservation" business is going to crumble under its own weight. As more and more people sign for the R card. Look what's happening to the OBC cut-offs. There is every chance it might cross general cut-offs this time. However, SC cut-offs are secured for another 100 years atleast. As there are simply not that many people and the same set of SCs keep on taking advantage of SC quotas multiple times. It is like they live in a parallel universe, fully insulated from the competition of the outer world. It is laughable when people like these after studying from IIT IIMs (on quota obviously) still complain about "struggle" and demand reservation as their birth right. Repeatedly. Neither do they or the politicians care about how the SC/STs are going to assimilate in the common society with this grudge amongst general category aspirants. I'll be honest to say I've fallen out of a lot of friendships with my SC friends because I couldn't keep the anger within. This is the reality. Reservations serve no one except two classes.
Whatever your position in this debate is, I think most people are mistaking the idea of reservation.
It is not to economically uplift the section of people under reservation. For that we have poverty alleviation programmes. Which is for all poor people, be it upper caste or lower caste.
Reservation is for REPRESENTATION. For example five out of 275 seats in Irani parliament is reserved for Jews, Zoroastrians and Christians. Not to uplift them but to have them represented.
Or reservation for women. It is not to bring women out of poverty or to uplift them, but to have their say or representation. It is not for rich women or poor women. It is for all women.
As such, there is no idea of excluding rich people out of reservation. Because that was never the purpose, even in India's case.
Reservation is not for poor SC/STs. It is for all SC STs. It is caste based reservation, not economic reservation.
But in our country, the group in reservation, that is SCs STs were so economically deprived that everyone, including some Judges, beauracrats etc looks at it like a economic upliftment programme. And why not, these people come from the same class and caste we all come from and have the same ideas and discussions.
And with this line of thinking, when they see comparatively well to do SC ST getting reservation, they feel it is cheating. But that is a wrong line of thinking in my opinion.
Yes, this was known as the effect that will come. That SC STs will get economically and socially uplifted, and will become part of the society. And hence can be considered as one of the purpose, but it was never the main idea behind it, which was representation.
OBC reservation is something I do not want to go in at the moment. As it is a slightly different debate.
Peasant castes(patidars, jats, marathas, lingayats, jats etc) demand for obc status in central services
With the advent of globalisation in last 2 decades farming has become very loss making occupation. Add to this vagaries of climate then we can see impoverishment of farming communities.Global warming and climate change have worsened the situation of farming communities. This has happened after Mandal. So I propose that these farming communities were wrongly excluded from reservation in obc criteria. These communities demand reservationn for their castes isolatedly .Because of thsis there is no force in their demand. If all these farming communities form joint struggle for obc status they would be a force to reckon with and central government would pay attention. So ,I request to all farming communities to join their hands for this demand and I am giving a list of peasant communities in every state. Please add more peasant communities to it 1) Marathas,in Maharashtra Karnataka 2) )Jats in North India 3)Lingayats, in Karnataka and Maharashtra 3)Kapus in Andhra prasdesh 4)Jats in North India (UP,PUNJAB,HARYANA) 5)Patidars of Gujrat Please translate tis in your language to spread this message Population of these communities is massive so agitations will be huge.
