IRTS - Railway Traffic Service is one service that could have slipped into Engg Service Exam. Office timings are very comfortable. IA&AS - You might have known this but here you work for the CAG. Simple put IA&AS is very much like any major auditing firm PWC,etc... public instead of private. When you join as IA&AS you will have work similar to a Associate or Junior Partner at Major Auditing Firms. There you have to be a CA to even think about it, here CA and CFA's work for you.

@Caartey For the part where attaching of degree certificate is asked, if it is not there cane one attach final semester marksheet?
Before i answer your question, let me tell you how i know all these things in my second(first proper) attempt i spend too much time thinking about hypothetical and philosophical possibilities/situations/implications... in one such line of inquiry i had while thinking about some toppers who appeared for pre while they where in college... I know only they would get result around the time of mains app deadline... Even the Provisional Certificates/Consolidated Marksheet takes a month to be issued...(in my univ) If that is the case imagine the students who have backlogs/arrears/supplementary... and i haven't been able to narrow down on it
Only case i know are you submit Provisional Certificate or Final Degree certificate.... Side Note : Either of which could be issued directly and (earlier than others) to you from your univ if you get a no objection from your college and contact them directly explaining the urgency of your situation.
There is a clause about allowing candidate to appear in exam even if he has not submitted his degree, but his candidature will be provisional until original certificates are verified. I don't if they are taking about candidates who submit provisional certificates instead of final degree certificates or who couldn't produce either of these...

Can anyone be kind enough to give a detailed comparison between IRS-IT and IRS-C&CE. Service conditions, perks and privileges etc. A lot of candidates are confused between selecting between the two. And almost even number of candidates put either of these services at a higher preference with the IT having a slight advantage.
