  • i think to join any group A services this is the easiest route as other posts like this are filled through UPSC cse i have seen many not so striving candidates clearing it including two of my friends but still one didnt join because he got CRPF
  • even i am planning to write this exam. best part no special prep(other than upsc prep) is required like one for RBI and CAT... :D

True, this is definitely the easiest route to a Group A service. A one day exam with no special prep if you are giving CSE makes attempting it a no-brainer. Also, the age restriction to 20-25 years plus the high failure rate in the physical test greatly reduce the candidate pool.
  • I have filled the form just for the sake of exam practice. Lets see how it goes out.
Also, The exam is gonna take place before mains, so may not even appear for it.
  • I also wrote this exam last to last year ..had started preparation for CSE so could not understand it's importance got decent marks also (120+80) ,got qualified for PT but did not proceed further..Now i realise it's not so bad and if one is aspiring for IPS this is second most preferred given recent recruitment to IPS through limited compt Exam.So atleast now we can not take it lightly.
  • I qualified last year but didn't attend pet.will write this year again.
  • there is another advantage, few of my friends who have qualified relatively at a young age are planning to delay the joining of A/C for a year to concentrate on CSE but flipside is that you loose 1 year of seniority. As it is, its a relatively long process (takes 2 years from writing the exam to finally joining) so this makes it a great plan b for the IPS aspirants as it allows you ample time to prepare for CSE .Also limited departmental exam is another way through which some can become an IPS officer without loss of seniority but you are eligible for that exam after 5 yrs of service as A/C or in army etc.

    I have few queries:

    1. What was the highest marks in 2012 CAPF (AC) exam?

    2. What is the schedule of PET, Interview? In which month are they conducted? When is the final result announced?

    3. Is Assistant Commandant group B officer? What is his/her career path?

According to best of my knowledge AC goes up to the rank of commandant and a few goes up to DIG rank .Higher ranks are reserved for IPS officers .

Not always! But you are 'generally' correct.
