My take on Economics --- It is a dangerous subject as qns as different in difficulty level as plus two and MA levels are asked. So one needs to cover a wide (one of the broadest among all optionals) range. If u see Gaurav's notes@evernote and match them with the 2013 Eco q paper, he was somewhat to have got most from his notes. Not that he may not have otherwise got such high marks. He cd have still done it. Yet u have to be lucky especially in paper-1. The posituves are- paper-2 is easier scoring, 2 books at most besides the survey, overlapping with GS & scoring. Once I wrote useless answers and got 310/600. probably the subject is favoured in moderation/scaling or whatever. But this year many wd be taking eco including me, so let's see. Earlier thought of shifting to Sanskrit but nope.
But, you must upload them not occasionally but daily because I am absolutely new to Economics and I want to just clear this year's CSE at any cost. And somebody has said we can get photocopies of Indian author books in North Campus so please guide me where it is and where is that photo copy shop. and I do like your opinion about sticking to Indian Authors because CSE is Indian exam not US or others, we have to study everything in INDIAN context.
These indian authors' books are easily available in delhi and every book costs 200-400 rs... but if you want photocopy, then first ensure about newest edition... rest about foreign authors, you can read them whenever you want to clear any topic and no need to purchase them, msg me ur mail id... will mail u those books...
Madam, I would like to ask few questions about this optional: My background : BCOM Q1: Do we need to provide data in tabular format while giving answers(to support the answers) or a theoretical approach can suffice? Because its very cumbersome for me to remember tabular format datas. Q2: Can a person manage with or learn mathematical part involved in this optional without any assistance keeping in mind that his maths is weak? Q3: Is mathematical portion of this subject is mandatory to study? (I know this is a useless question because everything is important) Q4: I am able to understand the subject but I have fear in lots of topics in Eco (Public Finance, International eco, taxation part and policy stuff) so, any advice? Q5: I can't understand Business related news + Bank policies, I have to search a lot to understand them so , any advice? Q6: What can you say about the scores in this subject, Is it possible to score good marks? (considering me as below average student)
how much time will it take to master economics optional if one starts from scratch
avoid economics...peer group is totally absent and UPSC questions require a strong peer group. Econ. is a v. good subject, but to score good in UPSC, time , guidance, etc are lacking. Econ. is going to screw up my mains this year. chose carefully.
1)How does deficit financing done in India? 2) Whether market and external borrowings are used or just govt lends money from RBI in the form of loan and by printing money by issuing treasury bills to RBI? 3)Whether foreign exchange reserve is used for deficit financing ?
I gave 2015 mains with econ optional.. Missed merit list by single digit mark.. If anybody is really preparing seriously with economics optional, we can form group and help each other.
