Poll's Result 717 responses Less than 95 marks 143 19.9% 95 - 99 105 14.6% 100 - 104 127 17.7% 105 - 109 119 16.6% 110 - 114 63 8.8% 115 - 119 58 8.1% 120 - 124 39 5.4% 125 - 129 19 2.6% 130 and above 40 5.6%
Using this poll to prove nanta's analysis If this poll represents top 10% of people who appeared in prelims (coz they are the serious one who go to dedicated forums and have access to resources- an assumption)
Then out of 4.65 lakh people who appeared, this will represent 46.5k and 15k(This no can be challenged) will qualify, then top 32.3% of the poll (232 People) will decide the cut off.
People greater than 110 are 219 and to add 13 more would take the cut off to around 109
Using the poll to concur with reliable insiders info Instead of top 10% we take it as top 5%, it will represent 23.25k people and 15k will qualify. This is 64.5% of the people who took this poll (463 People)
People greater than 100 are 465, then the cut off comes out as 100.
In the end it is all about the guestimates you make and the accuracy of those will determine how correct you are. Using the same poll you can arrive at very different conclusions
I observed few things very different from previous years while interacting with my friends, most of them are sincere and many in services, and I have a quite big group..
1. Many ppl who took pt lightly and guessed a lot are at advantage. 2. Ppl who took it seriously and tried to limit attempts and be accurate.. are not happy,in contrast to previous years. 3.category candidates are too better performed than earlier years ,as no CSAT. 4.ppl with good gs scores last years in many cases underperformed .
