@whatever you said some very good things. Among many i would certainly keep this one in mind: worked as great stress buster and revive myself when I used to go to dehradoon, shimla to take these examination... I always used to reach on the morning of exam itself

Ready if i die studying. Dont wanna regret. Its my last attempt. Pls suggest/correct/advice where u wish to help me. My plan-400 days to mains 2016. 1.40 days-Economics. 2. 40 days-Polity. 3. 40 days-Geo n environment. 4.40 days-Science(Starting from scratch) 5.40 days-Ancient India 6.40 days- medieval india plus culture. 7.40 days-Modern India. 8.40 days-world history and india aft independence 9.Ethics and all misc chapters from gs. 10.Current n essay.
kindly ask upsc to realease the list of 1000 more candidates in pre....15000 candidates is too arbitrary number in this one paper exam,,where luck matters more than anything else,i am sure many good players are failing this exam by decimals or 1-2 marks....last year they realeased the list of 17000 candidates. 1st time in the history the selection is being done on the basis of one paper.. regarding my case last year i could have been selected even if they have selected 12000 as i got 241(107 g.s+ 134 csat)..this year was scoring 109.34(shankar),,114(gk today)..i am out...thats pure luck based exam pattern and nothing else..
I failed in pre after 2 consecutive mains. it's not because I didn't work hard, rather I worked with lack of concentration!
I was not happy, due to my abnormal faltmate! Ofcourse he was my colg senior, but I got to know the real things slowly!
He was a womanizer( had multiple girls to satisfy his sexual hunger who visited him often) / alcoholic and over social creature( many friends and local acquaintances)! Literally he made his room in our 2 BHK a guesthouse ( on an avg every week one or more guests, his friends, relatives and girls( not gfs) visited, and more than 60-70 people visited in all total ) , every week more than once liquor party was organised! It means his room became a bar cum brothel cum guesthouse.
These things indirectly lost my conc , so joined a lib studied there in day time! Slowly started to booze very often but alone, My smoking rate increased! I got admitted to hospital too for ill -health
Today I don't know, but I feel I m not doing justice to me by wasting one precious year / time/ parents money! As he is still d same after his failure consecutively, day before yesterday he brought call girls and yesterday too, which forced me to leave and spend the night at a friend's place!
Literally frnds don't u think, that ur ambience is of utmost importance for u?
I think guys there is a difference b/ w happily preparing and just preparing! Till now I have not conveyed my failure to my parents! Father is diabetic with blood pressure problem! Mother is very sentimental! They will be broken!
It was my story,And my failure is attributed to Following reasons
bad ambience,( mahol) Galat Sangati/ bad decision to choose a flat mate/ Being a'' yes man '' to a senior wid lil fear
I should learn to say NO at right time/ place/ for right reasons.
Lastly all d best for SSC/ RBI/ APFC/ STATE PCS/ GATE!and other competitive exams too!
same thing happened to me...this year in january..i met the most negative guy i have ever came across....he exploited my emotions and made my mindset negative..wasted my 3-4 months....i was warned by one of my friends,,whose attempt he wasted in 2013 to stay away from this guy..just after mains result,,he made me even more negative...when marks came and i failed in compulsory langauge after wonderful mains...he discouraged me..10 days before exam he told me" tum kuch bhi karo tumhara is saal nahi ho paega"...i am not blaming this person,,but only myself as failing pre in 4rth/5th attempt is not an excuse....he might himself be suffering from depression of mains 2014 failure...it is finaly only me who is responsible for almost ending of upsc journey with shameful failure.. so guys if anyone wants to succeed..learn to say no..i havent said this word..and i am out of this race forever

Start afresh with NCERTs. NCERTs and The Hindu are the most productive part of CSE preparation. I only studied these and improved a lot in 3-4 months. Dont study those bulky books like Bipan Chandra, India After Gandhi, Majid Hussain, Ramesh Singh Economy. But do make short notes of whatever u read.

You want to waste 160 days only for history... in pre it will have maxm 15 question and in mains not more than 7-8 questions... Unless you have history optional, you shd utilities the same time for ur optional and other subjects...
