Katiyabaaz- A movie every aspiring Civil Servant should see.

edited January 2015 in Miscellaneous
This movie brilliantly depicts the grey areas in which bureaucrats have to manoeuvre policy.
(From Wiki)
Katiyabaaz is a story of Kanpur's electricity crisis, resulting in loadshedding. Power cuts of up to 15 hours a day, cause great trouble to residents and factories alike. This gap in supply and demand becomes the bedrock of local electricity thieves like Loha Singh, who provide illegal power connection to people, by plugging into official supply through live wires. However such free connection causes heavy financial losses to the power supply company, whose MD struggles to fight the menace of power theft, and local fixers. The film follows Loha Singh, an electricity thief, and Ritu Maheshwari an IAS officer with Kanpur Electricity Supply Company.

  • I rented it from Google Play few days back. Worth a watch definitely. The ending takes the cake, specially with that 'Ujadi riyaasat lute sultaan' song playing in the background.
  • Not a movie..a documentary..!!
  • I dont think i should watch it now. because already you told how story goes on. ;) rest masti would be in the narrative alone, the way director chooses to build his story.
  • Thanks. I'll watch it today.
  • @akrao_iimb Thank you. Such an awesome and real depiction. Made my day. Loved it.

    really liked it.
the drinking scene "tum mere ch-cha ho?" :))
  • Ritu Maheshwari is 2003 batch IAS. And she became MD, KESCO in 2011. I mean heading a company with revenue over 1k crore at that age. Wow.
