    Here are some nuances in polity that might escape one's notice and as has been seen in the past ,upsc seems to have great fondness for;
    1. The constitution has not debarred the retiring election commissioners from further appointment by the govt
    2. Though the members of SPSC are appointed by the governer they can be removed only by the president
    3. Pensions only and not the salaries of high court judges are charged on the CFI
    4. The attorney general is not debarred from private legal practice
    5. The estimates committee is comprised entirely of lok sabha members
    6. There is only one ground mentioned in the constitution for the impeachment of the president and that is 'violation of the constitution'
    7. The president can pardon death sentences but the governer cannot. However the governer can suspend remit or commute a death sentance
    These are just a few i can think of please feel free to add to the above
  • 8. on questions whether a member is subject to disqualification under Representation of peoples act ,the president's decision is final, however he should obtain opinion of election commission. However, the question of disqualification on grounds of defection is decided by speaker/chairman
    9.Unlike speaker chairman is not a member of the house
    10. Leader of opposition has statutory recognition
  • 11. Censure motion should state the reasons for its adoption in Lok sabha, while no confidence motion need not state the reasons for its adoption

    12. Entire expenditure on actual conduct of LS elections is borne by GoI but expenditure towards LAW AND ORDER maintenance is borne by respective State Govts.

    13. President's prior permission is necessary for the introduction of a bill concerning the alteration of the boundary of a state or creation of a new state
  • Great.
    It will help all of us in prelims because UPSC is fond of playing Indirect games.
  • Thanx citizen for making a seperate thread for this hope we get contributions that help us read between the lines and also to appreciate the 'not so obvious' :))
