How is the rank determined when 2 candidates get same overall final score ??
1. In case grand total marks obtained are equal, then candidate securing more marks in interview is ranked higher. 2. If the above mentioned criteria are equal, then Date of Birth has to be considered. Candidate born earlier will be ranked higher. Not much sure though. There may b some other criteria.
If someone is getting a rank in the range of 300 - 400 then compulsory papers score helps him a lot bcoz there will be approx 10 guys having the same final score.. Giving a shrewd example of this, last year from rank numbers 282 - 288 have the same score i.e 972 marks
But only 282, 283, 284 rank holders got IPS as IPS cut off was 284 and rank numbers 285 - 288 didn't get IPS even though they had the same 972 marks bcoz of their comparatively lesser marks than their 282 283 284 counterparts in compulsory papers (also known as GS + Essay)
@all: does anyone of the bro/sis here have the the IPS cadre allocation list for 2013 batch which is currently undergoing training at SVPNPA, as MHA normally use to allocate the cadre every year by march end or by april first week.

I have a query, around particulars of all places I stayed in last 5yrs, which I need to mention in attention form ! I have a travelling job and don't stay at any place including abroad, for more than 1 year, except when I was in Delhi for civil services preparation ! So do I mention just 1 place info that of Delhi ?
Even when I was abroad I was moving across places - London(8 months), Halifax(10 months), Glasgow(3 months) etc ! In India I stayed in Pune for 10 months !

Please suggest what do I mention ?
I have no clue about foreugn, but you should mention every place you stayed at in a foreign country imo.
For Indian address, the 1 year means 1 year in a district, evrn at two different places in a year within the same district should be mentioned. Atleast this is what I gathered from my pvr experience for a ssc job.
@mango_dolly Dont know about Civil Services exam, but one of my uncle who joined ITBP as AC had a hard time when he mentioned 4 addresses of his last five years stay.
From his experience he suggested me to mention only two address: one, your permanent address and other your correspondence address. The idea is that you should be present on the correspondence address when the police officer comes for verification. If he does not find you there, you will have a hard time running from office to office which exactly happened with my uncle.
There will be police verification in all the places that you mentione in the form and if there are many addresses it will take time and your appointment may get delayed.
