Its the ability to comprehend newspaper that works in this exam if you have the capability to analyze a news and connect it to the static portion of this exam then most of your hurdles are passed...

After two successful prelims, I still don;t know what exactly worked for me and didn't for my friends who I study with on a daily basis.
One of my friend - she referred to same sources, same test series as I did, we used to score similarly in tests too. But she did not make it by small margins both the times
2017 - cleared by one mark. 2018 - cleared forest service cutoff.
Keep studying the basic sources and CA. Beyond that, curiosity helps. Google up everything that seems interesting instead of waiting for some CA booklet to cover it. If you are > 2nd attempt.. there is absolutely no excuse to get any straight-forward question wrong. The margins have become crazy.
2nd attempt and above, give 60-70 mocks. You might not get 40-50 direct questions but it helps in revision, recollection, knowing your accuracy etc.
Keep your error margin very low if you are somebody who attempts ~70-75..
Improve your elimination tactics through mock tests if you are ~85-90 attempt person. Don't be afraid of questions that you see for the first time.. For example, carbon fertilization was fairly obvious from options but few of my peers didn't attempt it as they've not come across the term till then.
There's still no guaranteed success. Very few people can confidently say that "I will get through" one day before prelims. Hope for the best. Good luck to all
