  • old ncert , even though its bit bulky but old ncert better than TN books
    @bugsbunny What about new NCERT?
    And how did old NCERT benefit you than TN books and new NCERTs?
  • Stick to one combo
    @haryanvi jaat Can you explain? Especially why to avoid old NCERTs.
  • tamil nadu text books are written in which linearity in dates is follwed(who ruled after whom.)...chronology maintained well in it.
    old ncerts are like essays which doesnot follow proper arrangement of dates and events.... content is rich in tamil nadu book.

    i suggest tamil nadu book+themes in indian history part 2.
    Thank You @lapizlazuli
    How did the TN books and new NCERTs benefit you than the old NCERTs?
    was able to revise well before prelims...in 2016 except araghatta question was able to answer all in ancient history correctly esp ghatika question and malavika agnimitra question. i got 106 in pre n failed due to over attempting .

    How did the TN books and new NCERTs benefit you than the old NCERTs?
    to decide which is better u read delhi sultanate and mughals from old ncert and read the same from tn books. u will see the difference.
  • Selective chapters of Old NCERT Class 11 Ancient. See PYQ for areas to be covered and are more relevant. They are repetitive. And after a round of reading you can build on those areas from different sources, later though.

    Spectrum Rajiv Ahir for Modern India for Prelims. Bas.

    India's struggle for Independence - Bipan Chandra, for Mains.

    Medieval can be done from Lucent or avoided completely or if you really wanna do it, do the Ancient way, explained above.

    Don't run for perfection, covering obscure areas but focus on repetitive issues. This exam, you need to focus on issues and not on books from cover to cover. For that see PYQ from 2010 ownwards, you'll get a fair idea.
  • Can avoid other sources unapologetically. TN, New Ncert from 6 to 12 are not worth the time and energy. Spend both wisely in this exam.
  • old ncert , even though its bit bulky but old ncert better than TN books
    @bugsbunny What about new NCERT?
    And how did old NCERT benefit you than TN books and new NCERTs?
    I had the new ones but , there u won't find all the infos , but they are good for one to understand the gist , but not for infos , as far as TN text books are concerned, I felt they are way too concised , that doesn't mean that they are bad , but I feel if one has the time old ncert is the way to go
