  • Can anyone elucidate to me the structure/answer of this question:

    Q. Examine Kant's criticism on Descartes' view of self. (CSE 2016, 5M)

    Descarte reached to self (Cogito) with his method of doubt He said knowledge of self is undoubtable and he treated self as spiritual substance and an object. Kant was against this view of self . Kant said Soul can't be known like an object and it is always knower. He said Descarte from his method of doubt how he could come to know soul is a spiritual substance. According to Kant Soul is epistemological necessity and formal unity and can't be known like an object. Kant has put soul as thing of noumena which can't be known with help of reason.

    I used some other fillers apart from it to fill second page.
    Can anyone elucidate to me the structure/answer of this question:

    @Hume , Thanks! Is the above mentioned line(in bold) part of Kant's philosophy? I read Kant from Mitra's notes but couldn't find it. Where did you find it ?
