Ias is not lucrative money wise, but definitely more satisfying than overwhelming majority of high profile private sector jobs. Quality of life is not determined by only money and infrastructure, but also by the quality of work you do, impact you can make on society, respect and recognition you get etc. And bhai a humble request that whatever you do , whether in private or public sector or something in individual capacity, but please give your time, sweat and blood to the underdeveloped country of ours, and not to amercica which is already developed .
Not able to correct above statement... @TheBigDaddy bro thanks for wise words. Yes, I will not jump into it unless I decide it beyond doubt, but to be honest, pendulum is tilting towards staying in IT industry and live urban life.
I don't know I am answering your question or asking my own question ..but I want to know ....in the end of the video gaurav agarwal says ..it is immensely satisfying when u help a women a villager ..who were previously being exploited or their work was not done by any other officer ..even on quora an ias mentioned various problems and issues faced by ias and ultimately adds a line in the end ...but happiness is connecting a village to road ...etc etc ...I m just eager to know what if we as a society has higher standard of living or say comparable standard to thay of western society ...what if no More village is left unconnected and what if no one pleads before you to do his/her work ..? I mean we have a system that ensure work done even without a personal netting with dm and a society that has crossed the level of development where road water and other basic issue are no more a problem ...then will you be satisfied in this Job ? My answer is it's completely our attitude that Determine our pursuit and Not otherwise ..this strongly entrenched mai baap attitude and our tendency to become an important person where genral public has a feeling of awe when they meet us ...we want people to make beeline in front of our house because that satisfies our attituDe ..and that is main driving force for many aspirants who have no lure for money .. we want to be heard in a billion plus country and this route is literally worshipped by the society ..our decision to prepare for ias is not 100% ours but heavily guided by society ...
If one is really inclined to serve this nation or part of society then he will do it by all means even after exhaustion of attempts ...and he will do it anonymously mostly ..ias is just one of the route ....but as I said this is not the real motive most of the time ..if this is the motive ..then no ias will feel frustration in service ... Real motive is satisfaction of our deeply entrenched egoistic attitude ..our hunger for importance ..and false sense of superiority ..
And I really want to know .....what will be the source of satisfaction for an ias if no more village left unconnected ..and problems of people solved by the mechanism where personal attention of dm is not required ..? I mean we as a society developed to the level of western world society ... standard of living is such that common man is not worried of road water issues ..etc

You are right bro. Infant there are many ways to contribute to society. Madam Aruna Roy is a prime example who left the service to serve society in a much better way.
Please 'serve the society guys keep away' and give me honest opinion about my career. If you want to serve society, you don't need to be IAS. And if you are going to say further "With IAS I can 'serve the society' better", then that's another lie. Some people are serving the society better than IAS officers. Please, I am here for an honest opinion.
For the first 10-15 years, you will be serving as a district magistrate, where posting will be mostly in semi-urban areas. Also, if your posting is in sensitive districts, then work life balance is a gone case. If you love authority, responsibility irrespective of the working conditions, you can give it a shot.
Also for IAS, you have to secure a rank below 90-95, which is a very big challenge. If you are in a well paying and satisfying job, i wonder if you would want to work in allied services.
Maximum 4 saal DM rehoge maximum!!. Then to the secretariat probably as additional secretary. If in a big state with an ample number of divisions, then as divisional commissioner. Uske baad fir secretariat
My uncle is DM from last 5 years and still 3-4 years are left as DM as according to him ...then he will work in Secretariat
