I salute your determination sir.... Having left a job a year ago and after giving one full year now I am in border line for cutoff and feeling dejected and I can imagine how difficult for you....
Sir look for jobs like teaching in diploma collages if from engineering background with not much work load you can pursue state psc. Post your CV in the job sites like naukari and sure sir your determination will land you in a job.
Please don't base this exam as your whole life....it is as simple as living on lottery tickets....this is out of my experience too....it is not about clearing one prelims or mains and then to be so confident about it....that's immature...as i look back i have also been doing the same thing...but not anymore...in life we need money and job to survive with self worth and pride....It is true we can shine like a star when we get posting...but it is equally true the other side is a black hole....exams are based on probability and competitions can push even a hardworking/talented person down in life.....every day many people are pulled into this competition due to the magnanimity of media coverage etc.,... i have also came into this after seeing my own brother got IAS easily in his first attempt and the attention he got....so everyone will have a story as to why they have chosen it....
So after choosing we need to undergo rigorous studying, practicing, mock exams etc., and many have quit jobs and on full time... one is gonna gain knowledge and improve his personality traits but also at the same time ones health and self worth in the society goes down....it is true....no one gives a damn to an aspirant be it his neighbours or his relatives...people from my college (one of the best Technical institutions in my state) are making it big in several countries of the world and leading life happily...so are people who are earning well....so we do miss the happiness...it is very true...and also my health is far worse after 4 attempts...i have gotten Obsessive Compulsive disorder, Stress headaches, and severe anxiety disorders....people will say it is all worth....yeah it maybe...but see to yourself the costs and then embark on this path...had i known i have to face so many difficulties i would have never chosen this exam....all i wanted is a happy life...and sadly am not getting it even after many years....this prelims i might clear...okay big deal? so are over 16K and then there is mains to fight....but i should say such big fights are not that worth...it is a job at the end of the day...and if we have attached so much importance to it....then its our fault...
Life is very valuable according to me...am not interested in marriage or have kids...but acc to me being in a job and earning money is really important to live with dignity.....i myself is living as a dependent..and it hurts me a lot....i quit my high paying corporate job...closed all the other opportunities...to tread this uncertain path...am not being negative or throwing tantrums...but it is the way it is....it is based on risks, uncertainty and luck...these are all factors of gambling...world is big with hell of opportunities...every aspirant in any stage of the process has to ask themselves....they will find truth in almost everything i said....
There are some people who willingly wanna pursue suffering for a cause they believe in...they are exceptional....i salute them...but for an average person like me who want a happy life...it is a wrong choice...i admit...i was not ready for humiliations and sufferings...am no jesus christ...no one in this cruel world gives a damn as to how much you have suffered...it is very true....and the world is not gonna be different for people who suffer extra...so having said all that...i won't encourage myself or anyone else...to pursue it vigorously...a backup job maybe good...but one cannot give his full in the job if one wants to pursue upsc....as one of the toppers of my college said how she suffered in life for the pursuit of IIT and never got it...she also said don't lose your life in mindless competition....that's my take...and maybe am wrong in others eyes...but that's how i feel out of my own experience....i think i should be able to lead my life according to my priorities....
P.S...few pages of my heart...no demotivation intended
You are spot on... I feel your sentiments...
However, I think you chose to appear in this exam for the wrong reasons. But definately that is not the reason you have not succeeded. I know ppl who choose to be in IAS for worse reasons than you and they have succeeded.
Anyways, I think you have done great in your life. You will do better in future. You still have two more attempts after this attempt. May be you will qualify this time only and two more attempts wont be needed. You have the talent and brains and you will be through.
Only one advice i would like to give you. Involve your IAS brother in your preparation more. Take tips from him. He can be your guiding light. Dont think that because he cleared before changed syllabus, he cant help. You have a role model to look to and you can be in touch with him whenever you want to.
Thank you, @banksy_ . I have missed narrowly so many times now that I have lost confidence tbh. I think I will study my subject - Law so that I could appear for judiciary exams later this year and if I somehow clear Prelims (which I honestly doubt), the time wouldn't have gone waste either.
If you write well, may I suggest writing a few sample articles and sending it to places like GKToday, Vision etc? I once contemplated this and ended up sending three such articles and one of the places enquired if I would want to work with them full time. I ended up getting a job so I forgot about it. But well worth a try.
Good to know that you have figured out your life right now. Good luck for your future.
Hey banksy graffiti artist, why dont you continue your civil war at state level? If you are from the Hindi-heartland, fill up any of the State PCS's application. You already have done enough for UPSC. Add something more to it and break the teeth of State PCS. Age limits for most PCS are upto 38 for general candidates. Also, if you are from engg background then Railway's RRB recruit engineers where general age limit is 35 years.
PS: I dont want to feel your problem because the very thought of it kills me, which means I can feel it.
Good to know you took time out to Google Mr Banksy, the grafitti artist. Thanks for your valuable advice. Will definately consider it.
If u have any expertise in any subject of upsc cse, start teaching at a coaching Institute either in delhi or outside it.you won't have to struggle a lot for searching it. If not, then start taking tutions and prepare for state civils, for UPPCS,I think you can attempt at that age. Being practical, i think, you must earn now and prepare if you want. MBA is also an option (while earning)
Whats the best of your personality is,it takes courage, confidence and acceptance to write what you have written. You can do it ! All the best bro !
i have also left my govt job last year is bar csat mai 65-67 aarahe hai but enough to clear gs what shoul i do , go to delhi for mains or back to job average family father retired govt official , and now even i dont left with my savings totally confused csat ne fassa diya yar
