ur level of frustration speaks it alll that what u were trying to do.. systematically eliminate people from socio, as Nazis did to jews.. i must tell u one thing socio is 10 times easier than anthro.... Anthro ka material nhi milta fir log rote h.. kyu le liya anthro ek nhi kam se kam 10 log k inbox aa chuke h mujhe ki bhai anthro m problem hai guide kar do.. this is true anthro. once u take it u repent..

and who are u to say what will be futuristic trend...

i am not a person who is so afraid of competition... i don't go and tell people on each thread to take this optional cause it has less numbers and save ur optional... i only tell people see the pros and cons and choose an optional..

people are not idiot to not see in 30 years that anthro is small or crisp or whatever u say, there is a reason why anthro is not popular... its biological orientation, lack of material, lack of guidance, too dynamic paper 2 etc.. u even don't know basic fact most people who qualify with anthro are in there 2nd or 3rd attempt.. it takes lot of time and further no overlap with GS.. u can't make it popular..

u even don't know anthro is science or semi-science or humanities but just speaking ur mouth loud...

you have largely won the argument....but in the day of internet lack of study material .....is not understandable...the main issue is people have not put effort in anthro the way they have put in effort for Pub ad or geo(but result still scary ie even 3/4/5 attempt scoring poorly)....pls dont miss the larger picture...it is upsc policy to go after certain optionals(popular)

lack of study material.. because anthro has no consolidated source like Savindra singh, D S lal or Chandra or rupa series or like pub ad.. nicholas henry, ferrel heady mohit bhattacharya etc or harlambos giddens etc. of sociology... bhai i know a lot about evry optional so don't preach.. i have stopped at anthro for a reason..

in anthro u have to search a lot.. or u end up writing coaching shit of vaid, BT or likes.. all their material have lot of mistakes.. i have read over 100 original research papers dating as far as 1935 to reach a level.. that scattered material takes huge amount of effort to be collected at one place in a proper form..

rahi baat dynamism ki paper 2 kholna anthro ka.. PSIR socio m hawabazi kar sakte ho anthro m exact case study na pata ho toh pen nhi utha paoge..
  • @Lake_Berryessa aur bhai jisko select hona hota h woh pub ad se bhi hota h.. shalini duhan and ashish got under 25 rank with Pub ad.. so stop thinking futile things and channel ur energy in correct direction rather than guiding others towards apocalypse.. negativity will not let u succeed... put more efforts and i am sure u can do it.. anyone of us can do it.. UPSC doesn't demand exceptional genius, UPSC is a game where mediocre people with bit of perseverance are rewarded.. it is no IITJEE that u cannot clear if u don't have it..
  • Yr i'm not yet qualified to answer but always choose optional out of interest. If you are interested you'll go deep and understand it better. You'll be able to read it for long hours without getting bored. UPSC wants analytical ability and wider perspective. If you are interested in history, go for it. If you are really interested and into subject, you'll be abe to analyze even by reading a basic book.

Sabhi books facts deti hai for ex. Why french lost in India. Sabhi battles di hongi har book me. When the battle was fought, who won it. Economic and social and political consequences of it etc. etc. etc.
Now for ex. question came in history optional paper:
    Dupleix made a cardinal bulnder..........

If you know the facts, JUST PLAIN FACTS, you'll be able to analyze only if you have good analytic ability. If you write facts there, you will not get marks. You have to analyze the statement. Dupleix was an outstanding Commander as skillfull as Clive. Maybe Clive would have lost if he would have lost battle of Plassey. Was BoP was initiated by British? Was it an automatically triggered event?

Yes Bengal had an advantage but it doesn't had decisive advantage. Give pros and cons and analyze properly. You will have to write like a historian. If you take a stand, give arguments and justify it with facts.

To be honest, analytical abililty doesn't comes that easy. That's why we read 2-3 books on modern history and supplement it with notes. After reading the different viewpoints of historians we come to a conclusion and can analyze better. We basically borrow their thoughts and analysis. Same happens when we read editorials. We get to know the views of experts. We are kids and they definitely see things better and differently than us. That help us to look at things from different angles and we can analyze better.

If a person has an extraordinary analytical ability, he doesn't need to read editorials because he gets facts from news. He can give his viewpoint in paper and can justify them with facts.

Choose optional out of interest. Baki i'm just a kid and unqalified to answer your question. I may be wrong.
