Friends...i was looking for some ideas to suggest to my few friends to start some rural business...i m creating this thread because i feel i wont find so many learned guys at single place...we all do economic articles,eco survey,inclusive growth etc etc ...so our ideas are bound to be research based and therefore well informed decision can be taken.

Another important purpose this thread may serve is that many guys who r looking for back ups after exhausting their attempts may take hints from here regarding their future career,in case they plan to go for social entrepreneurship and make money along with social service.

I have one idea..dont know wether it will be profitable or not.how abut setting metered RO systems in rural areas...people can afford to buy water at the rate of Rs 1 per litre...a chain can be developed in suppose 100 villages...will it be profitable?installation costs and all?in rural ares a maintenance incharge will be needed who may do it part time else may be the RO system disappears the next day after its installation.

flooded hai bhai ye area...Big MNCs have already enterd ...small entrepreneurs wont be able to sustain...shayad Godrej tak is me ghusi huyi hai.

Every state has some villages with unique culture,Paintings,take white tee n ladies kurti, tea cups/mugs,cards,calenders n imprint those arts.

collaborate with state tourism n other pvt tour agencies to sell ur stuff through their offices,outlays arnd colleges,online platforms.etc

Food processing has some scope.
Especially pulses. Initial investment around 5lac +loan of same amount. Set up in a area where pulses are harvested in abundance. Ex Raj,MP etc .
Then direct supply to big chain houses .although as above said many big name already entered in such areas still there is ample scope for entrepreneurship.

Growing highly nutritious salad and veg ,which are very costly .then tie up with Five star hotels ,not so big but very smooth and profitable

I think SME consultant can be a good venture too. One can provide services such as tech, fin and HR support, marketing and promotion etc.
Some of these services require minimal capital investment, and could be affordable for these firms too.

Currently the rural population will not buy water at Re 1 for day to day use unless you are selling that in a moving train or a bus on a hot day.

As far as Northern Indian is concerned, people in rural areas do not have income levels to buy water at that rate. Secondly, there are enough number of handpumps that provide safe drinking water -without any contamination.

In very very remote areas, it will not be feasible to set up anything like that.
