  • @indianbabu It is the most stupid thing to think that question on UCC/ISIS and Dalit problems were because of BJP govt at Centre.These are all relevant issues.
  • Underline key words. This is not a new learning, but because the GS papers are increasingly based on opinion and recollection of relevant facts, it is important to make it easier for the examiner to focus on crucial points even if you have not been able to elaborate on those points.
  • Follow the footsteps of @Ivan_theterrible, and victory will be yours.
    Abhi kuch der pehle hi account create kiya hai aapne ...........Aapko mere baare mein jo bolna hai boliye , mujhe koi dikkat nahi ......Aap meri lete rahenge aur aapko likes milte rahenge :)
  • It took away my attempt :(

    I don't want likes, all I want is the analytical skills and writing speed that you have. Hats off bro.
    Aapko mere baare mein Satirical way mein YAA Taunting way mein , jo bhi bolna hai bolte rahiye ...Main fir se keh raha hoon ki mujhe kahin koi dikkat nahi hai .....Thik hai ...

    I read this in an article...
  • d biggest takeaway is : don't take any takeaway from this year's questions . Next year would be much different just like this year was different from the last and last was different from the last to last.

    So, do what u have been doing i.e basics. Questions ka koi thikana nahi.
  • - drop public administration.
    - Read a lot, yojana and random articles give you the necessary fodder
    - History has turned quite analytical. Good old spectrum might not suffice. Similarly for culture.
    - Factual stuff like ordinance provisions can't be ignored :-(
    - And most of this would not hold true next year. it'd continue to surprise.
    Thumbs up for the last point :D

    Thumbs up for the first point too :D
  • Disclaimer: Yet to clear Mains.
    Let me put my two cents.
    1.Find a good mentor, who have given mains earlier. Emphasis is on "Good"
    2. Answer writing is again over hyped specially these insight challenges.
    Mains test series is the Key. It will give you the time and pressure conditions under which you have to write in actual exam. Another benefit would be completion of syllabus and revision.
    Now the problem is their evaluation. Whether it's GS score or VisionIAS.
    e.g. in 2014 , in one question they asked about BRICS and I wrote the whole answer on AIIB.
    Examiner gave me full 5/10.
    There is carry over effect from your first few questions. In Test series.

    So write test series without any attachment in their evaluation. I got 130+ score in GS score test series for GS3 in which I rated my performance avg. And in next test sub 90, where I thought I gave my best. And It's not one off incident. There is consistency in their inconsistency wrt to their evaluation.

    3. Essay--> Work on it.
    e.g I was doomed last year, thanks to Essay (35 marks)

    So crux of the matter is
    Read ->Tests-->Revise-->tests

    And for those poor souls who hate writing..
    Essentially it is the recalling and time management practice. And it can also be done with mental technique. But don't depend upon it. It should be the option of last resort.
