the first ritual to become an intellectual secular progressive liberal moral tolerant person in india is to abuse Hinduism and Hindus. I m not from Bajrang dal but i m tagged as communal n intolerant if i go to temple for worship.
This intolerance thing is neither a BJP thing nor a congress thing. It is the logical result of the work done by the various hindutva forces over the past decades. From Kerala to Kashmir, from Gujarat to assam, millions of dedicated prcharaks, sainiks and their kind roam around spreading the most vicious hate propaganda coupled with a hyper-nationalistic rhetoric. Much before Dadri happened, one could see thousands of posters in my hometown demanding 'gauhatyara ko phansee do'. You call this tolerance?
Yes, many muslims are also intolerant in India. But there is no organisation among muslims at the scale of the RSS, Bajrang dal, VHP, or the like to spread hatred and polarise people. Nor do they have a party catering exclusively to them like the BJP. From time to time brainwashed muslim youth fall prey to the terror bug and kill people, which is condemnable. But that's nothing in scale and extent compared to the slow poison that has spread over the country.
There is a serious need to reclaim and implement strict secularism in all aspects of government and public life.

I am just saying throughout this intolerance debate comparisons have only been made with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan while comparisons with societies which value freedom more have not been made just because it does not suit the arguments of people. Calling India completely intolerant on one side and 'the most tolerant nation' on the other side is patently false. India lies somewhere in the middle, and we must try to make it better and debate without being threatened to be deported to Pakistan.
There is nothing more dangerous to the the idea of India than exclusive nationalism. Calling other people less patriotic based on differences in opinions is dangerous.
And even in the sex abuse case in Kerala the narrative of the right seems less worried about the safety of kids and more about Secular brigade bashing.

No, one cant be called communal and intolerant merely by going to a temple, which is your right. But it's another story if you impose religious worship and chanting of mantra in govt schools, as has been done in some states. I doubt if really moral and tolerant perspns will abuse anyone, leave alone hindus. Is it your own observation, or are you merely repeating hearsay by others?
