wo time jald hi beetne wala hai jab chacha , fufa ke ladke bolenege ki ssc mein sab hai....ab competition baht bad gaye hai.... aur rbi ho ya ssc, agar upsc ya state pcs na nikali , to power to dono mein hi zero hai par life sahi se beet jaayegi...rbi better hai ssc se par itna bhi ni hai....bas thora sa better hai.... ab ho ssc de re hai 2013 ya 14 se , unko pata hai ki ab koi majak na hai 5000 rank ke andar laana .....
Rbi Grade B is far better than all SSC posts(provided you are not interested in taking bribes...bribery is rampant in ITI and custom excise posts and is d main reason why ppl opt for these jobs).. RBI grade b is also better than state civil services... I agree its a subjective issue and it totally depends on the priorities of your life and where you want to see yourself 10 yrs down d line.. This year 2 IIM-B grads have joined grade B and many civil service qualifiers including Rank 311 (except proper IAS off course) have opted for RBI Grade B..
PS: i am currently posted as Assistant Commissioner (commercial tax) in UP and switching to RBI grade B next month..
friend SSC interview post salary(gp 4600) is equivalent to rbi grade b officer. RBI officers in first 10-15 does not have any authority.they are more of research analysis and "glorified clerk" in first 15 years and many after that also depending on task given.central government does not have ceiling on medical expenses.rbi has ceiling.central government give bonuses rbi does not.IN FACT INHAND SALARY OF SSC NON INTERVIEW CLERK IS MORE THAN RBI CLERK.
state service officers have public visibility and power.THEY HAVE legal money on par with rbi .officers.
Let me give you point by point rebuttal-
1) you said SSC salary is equal to RBI grade B..this is absolutely wrong...RBI grade B cash component is 60,000 at present which is going to be further revised because pay revision is due since Nov 2012...after pay revision it's sure to reach 75,000-80,000.. Apart from that you will get a very good 2BHK or 3BHK apartment in Grade B...in Mumbai its rent will be more than 30,000.. Apart from that you get 180 ltrs of petrol per month.. Approx 15,000 You get 3000 rs of sodexo cards too..there are many more allowances too like maid allowance of 6000, briefcase allowance, newspaper, LFC very two years for world tour for the spouse and dependent family(2 lakh per family member) etc...in total CTC ecxeeds 1.2 lakh per month...which is going to rise further after pay revision. In SSC you wont get more than 45,000-50,000 including HRA....trust me buddy SSC stands nowhere in comparison to RBI !
2)regarding authority... Except HR and Issue dept , all are powerful depts...DBS(dept of banking supervision is a powerful dept with great regulatory authority over banks)...moreover within 4-5 yrs Grade B officers are posted as Director in Board of Directors of cooperative banks...with promotions they get posted as directors of Nationalised banks too...i assume you know what a position of director means... SSC is a clerical post with absolutely no authority except the nuisance value off course in case of ITI and loads of avenues to take bribes...being a Assistant Commissioner with many Inspector level ppl working under me, i can say this with first hand experience...
3) regarding bonus...yes central govt gives bonuses bcz the salary of SSC ppl are low...RBI grade B is well paid already..
4) regarding medical...RBI has awesome medical facilities...don't worry about that... All the top hospitals are on their panel with cashless transaction facility..
5) RBI offers great higher education opportunities... All the top colleges of the world including Harvard, Oxford, Booth school, Wharton are in their panel...Rbi pays upto 50 lakhs for this.. I don't know about SSC but i m pretty sure they won't get this opportunity..
12 ppl of our batch got thru UPSC 2014 and only 4 have joined... Rest joined RBI including Rank 311(She would have easily got IRS if not IPS)...i think this will give a fair picture to you
RBI officers generally does not have authority IN INITIAL STAGES OF ATLEAST 10-12 YEARS.RBI HAS MORE THAN 25 DEPARTMENTS .ONLY FEW DEPARTMENTS HAVE AUTHORITY .THERE IS NO DISCRETIONARY POWER IN MOST CASES.THEY ARE GLORIFIED CLERKS AND NO PUBLIC VISIBILTY.THEY DO R&D .THEY DO COMPILATION A LOT.
EVEN SSC INTERVIEW GO FOR HIGHER EDUCATION REPUTED UNIVERSITIES INCLUDING FOREIGN ONE AFTER THEY REACH SENIORITY THAT IS GRADE A.RBI OFFICERS GO FOREIGN HIGHER STUDIES AFTER THEY ATTAIN CONSIDERABLE SENIORITY OF 15-20 YEARS.
COOPERATIVE BANKS ARE IN SHAMBLES AND LIMITED IN REACH AND LOWEST CAPITAL.ITS NO BIG DEAL.
DO NOT GET EXCITED . DO NOT LIE.At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments are approximately Rs.54,970/-.SO CASH COMPONENT IS AROUND SSC JOB ONLY.I COPIED THIS FROM THIER 2015 ADVERTISEMENT.MANY RBI OFFICERS HAVE LEFT FOR PRIVATE AND UPSC JOBS AND EVEN SSC JOBS.SSC PEOPLE INTERVIEW ONE GETS 44000 APPROX. AT THE MOMENT ON JOINING.SODEXO COUPON 3000 IS FOR 1 MONTH.THEY DO NOT GET BONUSES. THEY HAVE CEILING ON MEDICAL EXPENSES.
PROMOTIONS ARE EVEN SLOW COMPARED TO UPSC CENTRAL SERVICES.THIER PROMOTIONS CAN BE COMPARED TO ASSISTANT CSS OF SSC .
Also in inspector rank in iti or excise, if u get home posting den it is good.... Ample time 4 study..... But compring rbi and ssc is not good...... and state civil r better than rbi..... 311 rank leaving upsc is an exception...rbi can never be compared to any upsc post ...even railway protection force through upsc is better than rbi .....upsc>state pcs>rbi+sebi>ssc cgl >bank po

I am from state civil service in UP (Assistant Commissioner) but switching to RBI... door ke dhol suhane hote hain...state civil service is highly overrated..though its awesome for those who want to earn crores...For me other things are more important in life( including decent money) but earning black money is certainly not one of them...it totally depend on you what you want from life and where you want to see yourself 10 yrs down d line..

And regarding iim graduate joining rbi, to ab iit and iim graduate ssc join kar re hai..... Now awareness of ssc has increased which was not there till 2012..... so jisko rbi ya ssc ho jaata hai wo bas upsc ke liye pade.... because at the end of it, rbi and ssc should not be ultimate destination....people should consider dem just as very good back up and nothing else....
He's going to leave 'Assistant Commissioner' job for joining 'RBI Grade-B'. So, he must be speaking the truth.
HE/SHE MUST BE KNOWING THE TRUE REASON FOR LEAVING JOB.CHECK RBI OFFICER ADVERTISEMENT.RBI IS OK JOB NOT SOMETHING TO CRAVE FOR.THIS PERSON COMPLETELY LIED ABOUT SALARY SO YOU CAN THINK OF OTHER "TRUTHS"
