    Any suggestion on how to remember stuffs like in current affairs the matter is lot so like how an individual shud keep it in mind for a long time like for me since i have 3 years left for giving my upsc examinations! :-/ (even for other subjects)

    @Manjyot
    Ya. The scope of current affairs is very admittedly wide.
    But usually, prepare current affairs of the last/previous 1 year before the exam. If you are preparing for the exam dated March 2014. Then you need to cover current affairs from March 2013 to March 2014. That will suffice.
    Also, try to prepare current affairs on the daily basis from newspaper or some current affairs websites (there are plenty).
    Follow the news daily. In this way, you won't have a pile of current affairs at the end of the month. Generally, we feel lethargic once we see pile of newspapers or magazine waiting to be referred. It creates unnecessary stress.
    So, you can take a pledge from today that you will do current affairs daily.
    Also, you can divide current affairs in the category : National / International / Economics / Scie. n Tech.etc..... This may make the things organised and easier to learn. :-).
  • But since i have 3 yeas left for the upsc then shud i continue keeping a daily lookout at current affairs and maintain notes? And yeah i maintain files for different subjects likes for national, state, international, science & tech, economics for current affairs.

    @Manjyot just read the newspapers understand issues
    dont need to.maintain file for this.
    you have 3 years i mean 3*365.
    its too much
    you will not able to maintain your.enthusiasm for long
  • so basically ur trying to say that i shud only read the newspaper daily and only maintain notes if something is very imp. but like shud i start going through ncert's from now on and also maintain its notes or shud i start it in sometime?

    You just need to enjoy life in college! :)

    If you really want to do something while in college, watch good documentaries. Things like Ted talks, Current affairs discussion ( RsTv, Al Jazeera etc.) or watch good interviews. There is no need for you to lift your pen till you complete your college.

    @Manjyot

    You have really long time to go for upsc exams.
    I second what @Partho said.
    Don't take unnecessary stress from now.
    Take the things easy. Meanwhile, you can keep reading editorials as it will develop analytical approach in you. Also, watch Times Hour, at 9:00 PM in Times Now channel, by Arnab Goswami. He is truly awesome !!!
  • Great thanks for the suggestion @Partho, @sheen, @vstoljockey i will keep myself updated with the daily current affairs by just reading newspaper daily, the day i start preparing for the entrance i will start penning it down! till that i will enjoy reading editorials as well also watch the shows u suggested me! :)

    im find it difficult to even sit for even 1 straight hour leave 4 or 5 hours.Dont know what to do and how to get back.seen enough motivational things but just im niot able to connect with books.
    @thehulk Think of the hulk. Does he back down once he has identified an enemy and wants to beat the crap out of him? No he does not. Not he does not stop until he beats the crap out of his enemies.

    When in war, think like a warrior. When you're aiming at the fish's eye - you should see only the fish's eye.

    And that, my dear, brings us to your problem. Why are not able to study beyond an hour?
    The reason is you're being distracted. You think of n+1 things only while studying, that all seem so urgent. When you are distracted, the mind often makes the distraction look reasonable and logical. For example, while studying when you think of facebook or internet, your mind tells you, - it is important to see that update from The Hindu or see what people on the forum are talking about :P. Yes, its more important to type in that question on the forum - Why cant I study? Or call up your friend.

    Once you have decided that browsing/lying down/TV is more profitable than reading Laxmikant. or that Mrunal article (you are not going to read it full anyway )is more important that Articles given in Part IV of Polity, you're done.

    Then you leave your work and are happily drifted away.

    I will tell you what @valkyrie told me once when I said - I can't sit like you for 6 hours, he said - when I sit down to study, I tell my mind - Be like Marcos. Follow orders. Stop applying your mind whether the thing to be studied is worthwhile or not. The time for judging the content was before you decided to read it.. Now is the time to act. So, stop being a businessman, bureaucrat, policymaker - stop analysing the pros and cons of what you are studing and what could have been more worthwhile to study. Also stop thinking about the end result.
    Just be a soldier, following your mind's orders.

    It will be easier than you, at first, think.
  • @Neyawn
    It DID motivate to @thehulk and me too. :-) (I can comfortably sit for study for hours though)
    Thank you ,gentleman.
