I love the 25 as limit rule. We all know how this exam can ruin the majority. People keep trying and though most of them are sincere enough, the seats are just too few and the competition very high. If we keep on trying until a later point, it will be very tough to go back to any other alternative career. While the urban bred, engineering junta who can afford business, masters in usa etc , the small town and rural folk will have very few opportunities.
Needless to say the rule should be like 3 years after grad is the max age until which you can write. That should help doctors and lawyers whose grad is just too long than others.
Anyway what i wrote is a very very limited perspective and I am pretty sure there are other perspectives.
And as far as maturity factor is concerned,its not necessarily age-dependent...I have seen many people younger to me as being much more mature..Also,When we consider a sample space of 10 lakh+ and requirement of mere 1000,lowering age limit wouldnt hamper quality,provided it is strictly non-discriminatory.

I just wanted to drive home a point that in order to be selected in an exam first of all one needs to know that such an exam exists et all. After knowing comes the next part where an aspirant tries to learn about it more and more . Awareness in rural areas is certainly not upto the same level as in urban areas.Again i am not being biased here. You can gauge the level of awareness about such oppurtunities in rural areas just from the fact that when i heard of IIT screening exam for the first time in 11th i thought that it is an audition like they do in indian idol n all So consider me at that stage and consider one guy who is constantly preparing and readying himself for the IIT exam right from his school time.Who do you think will have more chances of crossing the final barrier . I know blaming circumstances is a cliche too but it is the reality mate .In this case fault might not be in our stars but neither in ourselves ;as circumstances are not created by man himself.
