@Thor@dp81@all my other bros ! I have done current affairs from April to October 15 quite nicely from VisionIAS material. However if anyone has the important events from october 15 to november 15 in a concise manner, please share it. It would at least ensure that I am well prepared for current affairs questions. I would be eternally grateful !
The clinical trial one was picked from insights daily questions - I wanted to put one on drugs - clinical trials or drugs and cosmetics - D&C covers two aspects - medical equipment and clinical trials - so thought just a question on clinical trials would be good in 150 words
But while writing the answer I completely forgot D&C amendment 2013 and the proposal of CDA etc. This reminds me Revision is so important - need to do all of Current Affairs once at least.
Coming to 2. I felt I addressed India's concerns well enough - Making ATT into an Export Control Regime, Small Weapons & Light Arms (Transfer of weapons to non-state actors covers this aspect to an extent), Lack of Conventional Register for arms trade like for Military Trucks Etc. (End user mentioned).
What points are you talking about that I missed. It would be helpful if you can highlight them.
1. I just addressed the wrong concern initially Govt. Plans was just overdose but Urbanization leads to Migration (Pull factors) and that migration affects the social and economic fabric of urban centers. I feel we need to talk about some aspects of migration as well - if not the reasons for migration, the effects it has on urban infrastructure.
Coming to your answers,
The pros are- They are well organised, you highlight the points you want the examiner to read, and there is a proper flow. Even the content is good.
Cons- I feel you become a lot confrontational of rigid in your stand at times and also sometimes superficial - which leads to the examiner not really looking at the points you wrote which are good. I would say be a little nimble in your stand and also the lines or paras - break them up and make them smaller - that might reduce the unnecessary content to an extent.
Well, Suggestions mate and I don't mean to undermine anyone. I feel these would make your answer even better.
@Thor I feel that the question on clinical trial was framed wrong. It really doesn't makes any sense to me to examine the 'relevance' of CT in light of growing misuse of informed consent.
In the second question, it is written to - "Comment on validity of India's stand".. That means you have to give your opinion whether India's stand is valid or not & comment on it. I think your last para pretty much does the same thing, which i noticed later on
Regarding urbanisation question, i think the focus should always be on the main topic (here, urbanisation) not its after effect (i.e. migration etc). There is a thin line between the two, but it is significant.
Further, i couldn't understand your comment " I feel you become a lot confrontational of rigid in your stand at times and also sometimes superficial". Can you please elaborate further? Apart from this, i couldn't understand why did you advised me to break the para while i haven't used any big para/sentence anywhere :-O
You may think that i am being too critical of the wordings of the question, but after writing a lot of tests, what i feel that the thing at which people miss the most is to understand the question itself. I pay a lot of attention to the question, the keywords (discuss, analyse etc), because, i feel that i will be wasting my time & effort if i answer to a question which is not even asked. I think even if i have to spend 10% of total time in understanding the question only, it is even then a good investment. Even i look at the hindi translation of the keyword too to get the feeling of what is being asked. Somewhere i had read that after the exams are over, a meeting is arranged at UPSC to thoroughly discuss each & every question. After such a discussion, i think all the experts will have a solid framework in their mind about what should be there in the answer. If itsn't, they will deduct marks.
Well, we both are aspirants & practically i am none to give advice to anyone at this stage. And at this point, when it is 2-3 days to mains, it is futile to discuss answer writing since it takes time too. So, its better to stick to your style & give your best in the exams.
@dp81@Thor I found an interesting thing bros. The model answer in SYnergy's test 11 for the National water framework law is a word by word copy of this Hindu editorial .Looks like our 'experts at Synergy' frame the answer first and then find a suitable question. )

Arre yaar, tension bahut zyada ho gaya be, kya karu. The ideal pressure cooker situation. need to handle this anxiety better. I cannot use your formula of 2014 as there is no 2014 for me Any other soln.

Well, Confrontational in the sense you are way too critical at times of the government policies at times. Being the future bureaucrats we are supposed to kind of find a better implementation and targetting strategy and not bash it like a common a netizen.
It might not be explicit but I felt the tone. That is it, You might not have intended to and the examiner might not also perceive it. Also, who knows the one who corrects your papers can be a big lover of confrontational style as well.
And being superficial might be wrong, I should have put it better. Few statements are wordy, they eat away the word limit. My intent on para was also at bigger sentences.
May be I was way to critical like you said, Anyways try to take the intent. I do hope you do crack it mate. it is such a pressure cooker situation.

Many solutions bro ! One of my friends has watched 'The Drag Knight' 5 times in last 2 days just to reduce pressure. I am down with viral fever so I am trying not to take any extra tension. You are an IIT/IIM pass out. Keep telling yourself that whatever happens, you have a decent future ahead of you. If you pin all your hopes on a single exam, you are bound to come under stress and ironically that might hinder your performance. Also, there's nothing much you can do now. Whatever you have accumulated is enough. I think relaxing is more important than revising at this stage. You can recollect and guess many points with a calm mind. Be cool bro! Judging by your answers, you have a very good chance this time. Best luck !!

mereko abhi CAD ho raha hai, I need to read CA today n tomorrow to be up to date, I also left news paper from mid october.
Most imp are CHOGM, ASEM, Iran Deal, Warsaw Discussions, Elections in Nepal & Maldives posts mid october.
