  • did anyone solve the question where u have to show that sinx/x is absolutely divergent?
    i did...its given as solved eg in shanti narayan
    Bro can u please upload snapshot of the answer page..I cants find in the book
    page 16.29 in improper integrals in shanti narayan
  • how to solve this question:
    mains- 2017 (mathematics), paper-1 , question no- 2 (d)

    regarding dimension of subspace U intersection W
    dim(U intersec W) = dim(U) + dim(W) - dim(U+W) = 8 - dim(U+W)
    U is a subset of U+W and U+W is a subset of V, Thus possible values of dim(U+W) = 4,5,6

    Thus possible values of dim(U intersec W) = 4,3,2
    10 marks ke liye itna hi karna hai..ya phir koi random subspace of given dimension man kar ke show karna hai ??
    thats it. solution from schaum for same question

    I'm dependent on IMS notes only considering lack of time.
    IMS notes se linear algebra kiya but still not able to solvethis qstn ..

    pls give hint--

    for intersection: from eq1 take z=x+y. substitute in eq2. you get x=y. then substitute in 3rd eq and ensure that it satisifies eq3. take x=1 , then y=1 and z=2. So (1,1,2) is a basis. so dim=1

    for dim(w1+w2) find the number of pivots

    2014- P1
    how to proceed ?

    is this correct ?
    1. dim v= 3
    basis= {(1,0,0,0), (0,1,1,1), (0,0,1,2)}

    2. dim w=2
    basis= {(1,0,0,0), (0,1,1,1)}

    3. how to proceed for v inters w ??

  • How to solve this one.. at least tell me from which section it has come from the complex analysis... and also share the approach... m getting no clue...
    Interesting...

    f is entire => f' is entire => fn is entire and hence analytic

    But given that the zeros of fn are 1,1/2,1/3... => non-discrete set => fn is identically zero => f is a polynomial

    seem right?

    Let w1 and w2 be two solutions of the given pde.

    Then, u = w1 - w2 satisfies the laplace eq. with boundary condition u = 0 on the closed curve.

    Now, Del^2(u) = 0 in S and u = 0 on curve (gamma)

    But u can take maximum and minimum values only on the boundary (using max/min principle) => u is identically 0 in S

    Therefore, w1 - w2 = 0 in S => w1 = w2

    3. how to proceed for v inters w ??

    intersection keliye take all conditions together => b-2c+d=0; a=d; b=2c
