what can be said of this latest occurence ? she was all over the news and on the front page of leading dailies just last week. (for going against the interests of the Noida illegal sand mafia.. and now she has been suspended with no reasons cited.. a 2010 batch IAS, a young energetic SDM, wanting to do something good- is it really possible ?
If you have UP as your cadre then ethical flexibility is almost a requirement to be successful. There is just too much money involved in the illegal mining and construction business. The politicians are either in the pockets of the mafia or are the mafia themselves.
She will get reinstated after a while but from now on she will never be posted in any sensitive or important districts (unless she builds a good relationship with the opposition party and waits till they back to power).
Isn't it sad for us to perceive ethical flexibility as a requirement?
If we are looking for career growth or money, I think most of us would be able to get into lucrative private sector jobs or even have our own business start up. But I believe that all of us here are because of the nobility of the service and aspire to be one of the wheels of change.
If we are going to be sincere in the job, we are certain to face the hurdles. At the same time, there are redressal mechanisms to overcome those. We need to have trust in the system because we want to be part of that system.
Change is not going to come just with the change in politicians, the bureaucracy too has to change. Initially there will be friction but as the number of sincere people in the system increase, there will be much pressure on politicians to stop putting obstacles when an officer is performing his/her duty.
Well it is truly unfortunate that honesty is rewarded like this in our system but thats the harsh reality & we all know it. What one can do in such cases is that keep doing the good work .Never leave your chosen path because a ruffian or scoundrel threatens you but continue your true path & in time things will change.Change per se is slow & painfull at start. All i can say is that this incident is nothing shocking to whats expected from our political class. If they cant change their ways ,why an honest officer would change her ways to suit them. If they are hellbent on corrupting the system so are we in cleaning it from inside out. Let them know that if one is down another one will rise to take his place but we will not rest till the mission is accomplished. Afterall it only takes a group of ardent ,hard willed & focussed 300 soldiers who defended against a mighty 10k persian army & to bring a god king to his knees with their sheer perserverence & iron will.
They can suspend you, they can transfer you, they can threaten you, what they cant do is change your integrity, your willingness for good work, your ideals, your values, whenever i see something like this in news i feel proud, because i can see how frightened they(the bad people) are just by the deed of one officier, every change throughout the history has to face many challanges, this is also just beginning of change in our system so some struggle there. They can suspend one officier but if everyone is willing to perform good job they can not suspend everyone. The butterfly effect says even if a butterfly in amazon changes pattern of motion of its wing slightly it can lead to chain of events which will be responsible for massive cyclone in the new york. So i can see our butterflies are changing the pattern of there wings motion and the day not far ahead when we will see some storm fatal for corrupt politicians and others. i can sense change my friend, do you?
I had great hopes from Mr Akhilesh Yadav. But after looking at this incident it seems In UP everybody is just a same. I think central govt needs to intervene here on such petty suspensions. There has to be a protocol when an officer should be suspended or transferred. This is the first step in the right direction. Fixing the system's flaw which lets states to transfer or suspend officer. There has to be an independent committee at center with may be retired judiciary of high court as members. committee which should get such controversial transfer or suspension requests from states for transfer or suspension of an officer and it should dispose the request in 3 months time. I know it will add one more committee in 1000s of committes our government establishes but it would at least try to resolve the major issue that is out there from years.

Are you from UP? I don't think so. I salute for your hope!
I would be happy to know the ground on which you had based your hope.
No am not but there is always a hope if someone new comes in if there is an utter despair from older leaders at least from the propaganda carried out in media.

i think its a time to makes IAS/IPS Association more powerful.... “We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.” every officers of whole country should be united... and show strong protest against this type decision...
Unfortunately what everybody missed is that by convention(not by law) an IAS officer(not on central deputation) can only be suspended by the Chief Secretary of the state who is also invariably an IAS officer.
