That is because UPSC doesn't do the service allocation DOPT does... Actually from what i reckon the 2012 result dossier is at DOPT right now where the service allocation is going on... and the reason they allot different service is Number of people in final list is less than(reason : reserve list) or equal to the number of vacancies ... So if they didn't give any service to one guy, one of the post will go unfilled and will create a lot of inter departmental "tension" ...
Would somebody please guide me about the preference in services (If qualified as I am just at the border line of cut off), I am already working in Class I, Group A (Gazetted) post and completed more than 3 years but want to pursue civil services for public interface.
If some body opted for IPS and do not fulfill physical criteria so how can he be adjusted? Please suggest afterwards IAS/IPS/IFS with power and dignity, not much political pressure. As currently I am in scientific department with no political pressure, I also do not want to loose this much good salary at this time.
@skylax I saw that, however, one doesn't need to pay anything if he/she upgrades from one AIS/Group A service to another. As in, someone selected in IAAS/IDES/IRTS/Even IOFS to IAS/IPS/any-other. So I don't know what is special with IPS and what are the hidden charges. Lol.
For that matter, if you are SELECTED and JOIN, say IRS and then 2 years later you get into IAS, it is taken as a Intra-Government thing. And as you are ALREADY a part of GoI, it is considered as a change of Ministry/controlling authority. One even gets to retain/maintain the Salary Scale that he/she may have gotten due to the time-spent in their earlier service. However, seniority in the new service is an independent thing. This is to the best of my knowledge.
@caartey Lol. Could be! Only @vibin can answer that. And yes, appreciate the initiative.
saw an IPS ssp residence(en route to khardung la pass) on a travel show yesterday it was in stark contrast to palatial bungalows of sp/ssp here or other parts of india...quite modest and with not much population around
