I wanted to know more about DANICS and DANIPS, being from Delhi. M more interested about knowing it. In previous attempts, I used to fill these at last considering them to be in Gr.B. But I think these are valuable too. Please , someone proveide me more infor regarding DANICS ,DANIPS. On wiki, not much is there. @Partho , @Caartey

I am a new member on the forum and this is my first post. I really must congratulate and thank you all for maintaining and contributing to such a wonderful blog. I found this blog to be a knowledge goldmine, you just need to dig a little.
No offense to anyone, but I found this discussion much better use of time then the speculations on cutoff and dates. I have myself been wondering on this question as this is my first attempt. I am doing some analysis on the service and cadre preference of the yesteryear toppers as available on DOPT website. I will post some observation as soon as I am done.

for the benefit of those who dont have a hobby, the DAF actually says "Other extra curricular activities and interests.(Such as hobbies etc.)" so just don't go strictly by definition of hobby.....mention smthng which interests u....i for one don't have a hobby (have dreaded this question since collg ragging days )
Indian Ordnance Factories Service.—Group ‘A’(Administration).: "Selected Candidates shall if so required, be liable to serve as Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces for a period of not less than four years including the period spent on training.."
"A probationer shall be liable to refund the entire cost of his training and any other payments made to him during the period of training/probation, if he/she wishes to resign from the service within a period of five years from the date of expiry of his training/probation or if he/she withdraws from training/probation. A bond of Rs. 1,00,000 (Rupees One Lakh) to that effect shall be executed by the probationer at the time of appointment"
Such a clause is there in the Railway services as well. However there is a caveat: "The Probationers permitted to apply for appointment to Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service etc. will not however, be required to refund the cost of training."
I have a question here. If one candidate marks only IAS and he does not want to get into any other choices, why would UPSC allot him to any other remaining services. This does not make any sense to me. As the candidate has clearly mentioned that he does not want any other services but IAS then UPSC can allot another candidate with lower marks who has marked that particular service in his options rather than allocating to that service to our first candidate with higher marks whose only choice is IAS. What if the first candidate refuses to join the service which he has been forced to join to even if he did not mark that as option. Please let me know. Thanks
