@nandana thanks for that info.. How much marks u got last time btw ??
it was a disaster ..i got 144...but when i look back at my interview transcript, i think i wud have been happy even with 100 . It was like no questions asked and no marks given.
I was just going through the 2012 candidates' marks and the subjectivity in awarding marks in the interview is very worrying. The interview can single handedly make or break your attempt. One had hoped the interview would be more than a roll of the dice. It seems like one. What could people possibly have done or said to get less than 150? I'm assuming they too, practised and gave mocks. They too, had time to correct their weaknesses. Scary.

only confidence of a good mains score is keeping me in the race. rest is luck
@nandana- sounds like the handiwork of Rajni Razdan?
No. It was Alka Sirohi. Also you have correctly stated the role of interview. While mains is 1750 and interview just 275, their "effective weightage" is much higher as mains marks hover around 35-40% for most candidates whereas interviews have a big range (varying between 30% to 80%). That is why often people complain of a "factual' interview which is so unfair. From my personal experience, I can tell you that my summary sheet had so much fodder for interesting questions to be asked. However, what was actually asked in the interview ( my transcript must be somewhere on this forum) was so mundane that during the interview itself I began to doubt if the panel was really interested with the interview (and mind you i was the first person to go in the morning session so at least the boredom angle can be ruled out).
@nandana- I'm sorry if I seem nosy, but what do you think could have led to you getting low marks? I'm only asking because Alka Sirohi is generally seen as a moderate chair, often supportive and someone who goes out of her way to make the candidates comfortable

Akaik Some people had bad experiences with her board. One of my senior too had a bad experience with that board last year.
g) Master the skill of disagreeing politely . Also it helps to appear vulnerable at times. Remember you are dealing with people with big 'egos'
h) Lastly, Prepare, prepare and prepare. It is possible that very little (or even none) of it will come handy during the actual interview but having prepared you will feel confident and which i feel is very important. However, arrogance is not tolerated so make sure in you don't cross that line in over-enthusiasm.
When you say prepare, what is reqd. ? Mock interviews or prepare answers to probable questions from DAF and read them again and again ..
I am outside India so little difficult to attend mock interviews(though will try one) but how do you suggest I should prepare?
