Dear all,
All of us who belong to EWS category but are being considered in General category because of something which is not in our control. The process to get certificate is not at all established in some places, or established late or is very complex even if it is established. And this is varying from place to place even in the same state.
This has caused helplessness in many of us who couldn't get the certificate in time despite trying their best. Generally the people who were lucky in having not so complex process in their hometowns, or had some contacts could get the certificate in time. This has led to injustice and inequality as those who are rightful beneficiary of a scheme aren't able to benefit from it.
Some of us weren't allowed to appear in Mains and those who were allowed as they were meeting general cutoff are also being disadvantaged.
I am not sure what exactly happened with people who filed the case in court/CAT before Mains. Whether only those who filed the case were allowed to appear in Mains or everyone else was allowed too. I am also unaware if some people have filed any case/PIL/Petition after Mains seeking relaxation in date of certificate.
All of us (atleast those who have appeared in Mains) should discuss and figure out what we can together do about this. We should try to get relaxation in the date of certificate as the process has been started for the first time. The cutoff date can be taken as the date of interview.
Even those who weren't allowed to appear in Mains can take relaxation of age and one extra attempt.
We should be doing something very soon as Mains results are approaching.
There is going to be considerable difference with general in cutoff of both Mains and final results. I personally think EWS cutoff would be little more than OBC. So may be around 30 marks difference with general which is huge.
Possible options: 1. Jointly visiting and presenting our concern to UPSC with a letter.
2. Filing a PIL/case: The cost won't be much if there would be enough people participating.
Let us discuss.
